Thanks for the post. That MagBak mount seems to work because it has less of a mounting arm/clip on the top part of the screen, where there is a tight fit in the R1T.
That looks really good and I’m ordering one right now. Wish it was cheaper but love the integrated and clean look.

MagBack with the iPhone. It's pretty good but far from perfect. The steering wheel is right in my line of sight for the phone.

These all seem to be in the same place with the same obstruction by the steering wheel. I'm not sure if you can really get away from it. It helps if you raise it up a bit, but it's still not quite ideal.

Been meaning to post this for a while. I share the same (probably unwarranted) concern that the VHB tape will eventually cause issues with the pleather; there's really no reason to think that, 3M regard this kind of surface as 'medium energy' (i.e., some flex, as opposed to a hard surface), so the surface prep is a little more important, potentially using an adhesion promotor.

Anyway, we sell the Foldaway phone mount as a good option for the Model 3/Y, and I struggled to find a good position in the Rivian, but in the end went with under the central airvent, which, conveniently, is also near the 12v outlet (which I didn't even know about until I started poking around under there!). For me, I prefer this position compared to the top left of the center screen, as that tend to be obscured by the wheel. I don't like having to look down, but it's still much better than Rivian's charging and phone-launching slot. The downside of this location is that although the cupholder doesn't get in the way, you can't have a cup on one of the sides when your phone is mounted on the pad.

Anyway, few pics below. It's been stuck in place for a few weeks now, and it's been toasty here, but generally the truck isn't left in the sun. The USB cable is a 12" from Amazon.

I actually really like this location, all things considered.
Does this mount hold it firmly enough? Is the mount pretty hard to move?
I mean, does it sag for fall down?
What about removing and installing phone?

Thanks for sharing this.

So far so good. It's Magsafe, so assuming you have an iPhone 12 or later, you just place the phone on and off, it's easy, basically becomes a muscle-memory action. It's never fallen off, so far the mount as stayed exactly where it was put. I use a 13 Pro Max (with a case normally, just removed for the photos), so about the heaviest iPhone, there's no sagging or anything.

Yeah, I was just worried the hinges would be too easy to move. THANKS

Contact me through riviparts and I'll send over a slightly larger replacement from this upcoming batch.
I just received the ball mount you created a few days ago and also purchased one of the magsafe mount you suggested on your website. What a great combination. There are very few places you can mount a phone in the Rivian R1T and the spot between the two screens is perfect. Thanks for taking the time to create such a well thought out product. No need to apologize for the price it is very reasonable.

One other thing. It is very unobtrusive and does not look out of place when the phone mount isn’t installed which is one of the problems with other mounting suggestions on this thread.
