Hi Folks,

Towed for the first time with my Gen2 T yesterday, both my boats, went pretty smoothly. However, I don't really want to leave my hitch ball on there all winter, nor do I really want to keep it covered completely to take on/off anytime I need to tow. Is there a 3rd party "plug" that others have used that fits nicely on the T?

Thanks!

Some have replaced the screws with ones that can be turned by hand. I personally have just never reinstalled the cover.

Maybe like a weathertech bump step, to keep people from hitting your bumper when parked...

Please don't. Bumpers are intended to be more or less compatible in the event of a collision. Something like this takes what might have been a minor cosmetic issue and raises it into a punctured intercooler.

I'm assuming you are talking about the guy that uses your Rivian as a bumper car? Since a repaired Rivian bumper cover can cost you 1000's out of pocket to repair, maybe we shouldn't use our intercooled cars as bumper cars?

I mean, I have a supercharged Mustang with an intercooler, Turbocharged truck with an intercooler and even work car with an intercooler, it would have never occurred to me to blame the guy with a bumper step for me hitting his car?

It wasn't me, but it was my car. Sure, it was the driver of my car's fault, and I'm not blaming the owner of the other car for anything, but it's clear that the hitch accessory in my case made the whole thing worse overall. An accident that went from what would have been maybe $200 in total cosmetic damage to both cars (if that, it was very low speed) became over $1000 in damage to my car plus a ride on the flatbed (The hitch accessory went through a plastic grille and damaged the intercooler as noted). Had the bumpers hit each other as designed the whole thing would have been no big deal for either car or driver.

Sure, it is what it is, and like I said, I don't blame the other driver at all, but given the choice, wouldn't we all be better off if we took fewer actions which made other people's lives harder?

I've come out of a store to find bumper pieces laying behind my truck that was equipped with a step/skid, and no damage to my truck. It's not my problem if people are morons. I run this 24x7 when not towing, which has many uses. When off road, it lessens the worry about the flimsy bumpers hitting the ground.

I'd be more worried about people's faces ending up in this one than their intercooler.
