You would think as long as there is not a short in the wiring or bad component or a bad battery the 12v system should never die. The vehicle software should have failsafes to prevent this kind of issue. And why is there not a way to see what the 12v battery voltage is in the service menu and some kind of log of battery voltage.
I switched to OHMMU after the last time so you can monitor via Bluetooth. Rivian taxes the battery pretty hard. In about 2 months the 12v battery has done 51 charge cycles.
The new battery made it a lot easier to get the truck alive again Compared to the Rivian battery.

Sorry for resurrecting an necro-thread but, I'm new to the "My 12v batt died" club as of this morning and I'm not liking what I'm reading, as this might happen to me again without notice just like today (I had my work laptop and tennis gear inside locked). I was able to jump it for a little bit to unlock it but then it went dead again immediately and never came back.

I would love to hear about your experience with OHMMU as if Rivian won't cover my batteries under warranty, I would go that route, but I've seem concerns from people around the forums on how good/bad those batteries might perform in normal and extreme scenarios. Any input is appreciated!

It’s been great. In fact I had another time that the truck did something and the OHMMU cut the battery off before it was too low. I came out to the truck it was dead but… I opened the Bluetooth app for the battery and found out it turn of at a safe state. So I turned it on let the truck boot and was on the way.

To continue this resurrection, did you have any issues with the swap? Once you remove power from the main terminal, did it give you issues when you restored it? Or did you have to jumper it the whole time to maintain it?

No issues. All I did was charge the new battery first. After that it was all good. The vehicle software just needed some items recalibrated which was easy to do.

Very interested in this 12v OHMMU also -- but curious about the install process and reboot of the truck. Zero issues? Were all the recalibrations done via the hidden service menu, or did you need a SC visit?

The calibrations just popped up automatically.

There is a chance the 12v battery fault is already logged if so will require sc visit to clear at least I couldn't find a way to do it on our own. Usually when it gets bricked it doesn't have a chance to flag it so unbricking with a fully charged primary battery works fine.

My only concern about a lithium battery is how it performs in winter since most of my power tool batteries suck in the cold.

As per the installation video on their website, a hard reset will clear all alerts in the dashboard.

The winter performance IS a concern to me (I live in Texas but I travel to Colorado every year), but I've read that it has a failsafe mode where the battery will disconnect itself when chathe rge is low, so you can turn it on with Bluetooth and start the car before It's too late.

I would love to wait and see how more people experiences it.
