I had to open it in YouTube in order for it to play. That’s way worse than mine is.
My truck got picked up by transport on Friday so I’ll know soon enough if they find anything wrong
Thanks. I just listened. That is way worse than mine as well. Mines more of a squeak/chirp. Not sure if it's audible outside the vehicle.

The chirp between acceleration and regen at low speed? Had that on the loaner. Started around 1500 miles or so?

The chirp/squeak is when going over bumps. The click/tick is more when changing from stop/start or on accel.

This is the squeaking I've been experiencing
I had this one. It is inadequate lubrication on the half shafts. Easy fix for Svc center (they just clean and add more lithium grease I would imagine.)

I still have the chirp over small bumps, and the lead tech at my local rivian shop who owns an R1T says his does it too. It isn’t a mechanical problem but he’s trying to resolve it on mine while it is in the shop for a coupe of unrelated small fixes.

That's definitely a pully cable. Sounds like when the cable is actuated, it's rubbing against something. Cables are the only things that make a spring-loaded cable noise like that. Throttle cables used to make noises like that when they were actual / physical cables coming out through the firewall and being "pulled" or depressed. I think you've just got something rubbing against something.

Is it just the passenger side? What about the driver's side?
Standby. Checking now
No one else has these rattles at medium speed (25-55mph)? I'm still convinced that the most likely culprit are the underbody covers that run along both sides of the truck just below the rocker panels / doors.

My R1 got delivered on Monday and I immediately put in a service ticket for the rattles and clunks in the front suspension. Slower speeds over choppy bumps and the front end sounds likes its loose AF.
Did you ever get a clear answer from Rivian about this? I’m 4 days in to ownership and have this similar issue when driving over the speed bumps in our neighborhood.

I should be getting mine back this week. It was in for similar issues.

yeah. It’s been checked twice now and both times has been confirmed in spec and ‘normal’. Honestly, I don’t even notice it anymore.

I've also had the "chirping" sound from the front since I got the truck. Most noticeable over small bumps. It sounds like the suspension is loose (like on a 30 year old work truck), even though the suspension feels tight. It's subtle but noticeable. I'm in for service in late August and will have them evaluate it.

As I stated a few weeks ago, I had the side undercarriage / cover panels rattling (mostly on the passenger side) really badly to where I didn't even want to drive the truck. I had it in for service last week and they definitely resolved it -- no rattles at all. But I'm not sure what they did because those underbody side covers on each side still wiggle and make noise when you crawl under and smack them with your hand.
Anyway, camber / toe-in still slightly off so that the steering wheel shakes pretty fiercely at 80mph. But it's not as bad as it was. So they must just intentionally have the camber set "in" a bit.

Anyone who has rattles (metal rattling noise) should bend down under their truck and bang on those side panel covers just immediately under each side of the truck (they run the entire length on each side underneath). If those covers make a racket, that's your rattling noise when driving for sure. Not sure of Rivian's design here-- why they're so "loose" and rattly. Hopefully, they use rubber or nylon bushings in production in the future?

A little toe-in and negative camber isn't going to make the steering wheel shake. At all. That problem is coming from something else. Most commonly an out of balance tire/wheel or a tire with a structural defect. One way to test that is to rotate tires front to rear and see if the vibration moves from the steering wheel to one you can feel through the seat or perhaps disappears altogether.

Mine has been doing the same all along. This is too much chatter and rattling for a vehicle of this caliber. I also have the creaking/squeaking when accel/decel. Going in Aug 1st...

EDIT: And I have had the rattling checked out but everything is "in spec." Makes be worry how loose those specs are defined. Squeaking is new.

The behavior of the shaking steering wheel seems more like a Jeep death wobble (which makes zero sense due to the suspension issues of a solid axle Jeep are not present in the Rivian). They are seeming set into motion by imperfections in the road surface. Larger bumps making then more significant. But they are dampened out quickly. But they should not be happening at all. Hope they find a solution to this.
