I’m on iOS 18.4.1 on iPhone 16 Pro Max and the 3.0 update is destroying my battery life.

It’s Sunday and I’m just hanging around the house, haven’t gone anywhere. Charged phone to 100% overnight, it’s 4pm and I’m at 56% battery.

Rivian.app is responsible for 54% of that drain. Over the last 10 days the app is responsible for 30% of all battery use, 3x the next highest app - altogether an unacceptable regression.

I’m on 18.4.1 on an iPhone 14 Pro Max and I’ve only used 11% of my battery today.

I’m on IOS 18.5 (Developer Beta) on my iPhone 16 Pro and it’s used 4% of my daily average of 80%-40% today which is slightly higher then the past 10 days being at 1% but i also used it more today so the difference is marginal at best.

iOS 18.4.1 - Used 22% as background activity on 16 Pro Max that seems high. I haven't been monitoring this before the update, so can't compare to past versions. I spend all day with my phone near the truck - BT range almost all the time.

Galaxy S24 Ultra on Android 14 used 0.6% the entire day and it spent over 10 hours literally sitting in the truck.

The update seems pretty much the same as the old version to me. I think it could be better if accessing the climate controls didn't require scrolling and tapping to go to a different screen. The main screen has a picture of a truck and range estimate that takes up 100% of the real estate and doesn't really provide any value.

iPhone 16 Pro, latest iOS. Showing 4% in the last 24 hours, up slightly from my 10-day average of 3%.

Running it on Android 15 Samsung S23+ and the app no longer controls the car. Can't lock or unlock remotely, can't view cameras, nothing works.

did you get any resolution? I just got my 2024 R1T and discovered my Samsung S10 Android 12 won't work with app and so I guess I'm going phone shopping (grrr)

I have an S20+ and no issues with the app on my end.

Edit,
My wife has a Samsung S10 and no issues for her either.

My S10+ works with the app, but won't update to the recent versions of the app (since last fall). I don't know if there is some reason that the newer versions of the app won't work with Android 12, or if someone just decided not to allow it.
My S10+ isn't very old - it's newer than my Rivian - I'm not anxious to buy a new phone.

Oh no it isn't. S10+ was released in 2019.

I purchased *my* S10+ (new) about 18 months ago. Please note that I stated that "my S10+ isn't very old." And that is a true statement.
The Rivian app worked fine with my S10+ at that time. About last fall Rivian decided Galaxy S10 (and, I presume, other phones using Android 12) was no longer worthy of receiving the new versions of the Rivian app. Maybe it is because there is something in the new software which is incapatible with Android 12, or maybe they just decided to disallow it. I don't know, and I've never heard an explanation.

You may have purchased it ~18 months ago, but it is still pretty old. I'm sure it was manufactured prior to 2021.

And it's not necessarily that Rivian arbitrarily decided to stop supporting Android 12, it's that Android 12 and 12L are end-of-life (as of March 2025), meaning that Google won't even support them. Neither will Samsung, Verizon, or anyone else. There is no world in which Rivian should build apps to support an end-of-life OS.

Actually, that's exactly what they did. EOL was 3-31-2025, but Rivian stopped allowing app updates last fall (about November, IIRC). I would be a little less annoyed had they not jumped the gun. At least they haven't locked me out of my truck - yet. Although, I suppose, that could happen at anytime.
