Did anyone else notice Rivian official's latest Instagram account comparing the R1t vs R1S had no mention of the Max Pack for the R1T? I wonder if this is a sign of the Max Packs' impending doom :(

I'm more interested as to "when" they will start building/shipping the dual motor version... ;)

Yeah, I reached out to CS and was told they are still on track for '23. I raised my concerns that with the silence on the pack, that it was becoming concerning it would be pushed beyond '23.

They didn't have any info to share, but would do there best to get me some reassurance.

I know it's coming eventually, just still looking for '23

The max pack will likely come with new battery/charging tech. I doubt we'll see it anytime soon. It would be smarter to fill all the current standard pack orders they can first.

Why would they list max pack which the R1S does not offer in a comparison of R1S/T?

I keep coming back to the fact that I think Rivian needs to launch the Max Pack in the R1T to be competitive. While Rivian fills a unique niche now, there are others coming after them like VW re-launching the Scout brand. I just do not see them dropping this, even with all of the other points out there as range anxiety is a large concern coming to EVs. If Rivian does not do it, others will.

all manufacturers are battery constrained due to the effects of the pandemic on the supply chain and the high demand as more BEVs are built. so it makes sense they would delay the Max Pack. you get more vehicles out not having to build them with the Max Pack and as a startup, production is key to surviving. i suspect the Standard Pack may make it to market before the Max does.

i wouldnt rule it out all together and from what ive heard Guides and CS are still saying early 2023 but i expect by the end of the year, if not sooner, that they will make some sort of announcement about it being delayed.

They’ve been quite clear that max pack will deliver 2023.

Unless they’re going to throw out 5 years of development, I don’t see it being dropped.

I originally ordered the max pack, simply based on my history with Tesla in noting that the Tesla never got anywhere near the range it said it would, so assumed the same would be true of the Rivian. Then, when it was announced that they wouldn't be available for a while, I bit the bullet and chose to go with the large pack. Best decision I ever made and saved $10,000 on top of it. I have been continuously blown away at how well this thing road trips. I purchased a set of 21" wheels and tires as a second set and this thing actually gets what it says it will. And not at just 55-60 MPH, it gets the rated range at 70-75 MPH. The Tesla, was lucky to get 75% of the stated range if I went anywhere near 75+ mph.

300 miles is about the limit of my bladder. So, other than for those that want to use the truck to tow on a regular basis, I think 300 miles in range is the sweet spot and am more than happy with what I get out of it. As I noted in another post, for the first time in my 10+ year history with EV's, made it from L.A. to Vegas without stopping to charge. Good enough for me!

Unless you road trip regularly and know that you typically go more than 300 miles without stopping on a regular basis, or tow over 100 miles on a regular basis, I think the Large Pack will make most buyers more than happy with the performance / range of the battery.

He said max pack was still on the table during the Techcrunch video.
While he said there were longer range versions coming for both T and S in the interview, there was no elaborating which was unfortunate.

To keep it relevant in the face of competition.

Definitely also didn't say anything about it not being on an updated version of them. Next gen/refresh is forecasted to start production in 2029.
