Hi -

I noticed the car was particularly "bouncy" this morning and then saw a note that we have to "Service Air Suspension soon" and it automatically changed our ride height from low to middle and it says something along the lines that we can't change ride height until we service the air suspension.

Has anyone else encountered this? We're only about 1200 miles in with the R1S, so it seems a bit early to need service. Hoping this is something that can be done virtually...

Thanks,

Chris

I'd just make a ticket ASAP.

Get a service ticket going. There may be an issue.

Ya service tickets can take months. I have an airbag issue and the earliest available is in January.

Airbag issue....January? Yikes! Do they have you in a rental that whole time then? Or at least make sure your beneficiaries know the situation so they can take appropriate legal action if appropriate.

Apparently, it’s a known issue, discussed here, where the passenger airbag turns on and off based on the position of the person seated. No rental, but they should cover marriage counseling after I have to make my wife sit in the back for every drive ?. It’s been said here that they check and tell you that it’s within govt guideline. Some have even mentioned that they had mobile service cime
Look at it, but LA SC is telling me it has to be brought it ??‍♂

Quick update here. I had a service appt scheduled and lo and behold, as I was about to drive 2 hours to Cinci, the note went off, everything was smooth as can be and it seemingly "fixed" itself. There was a huge rainstorm the night we first noticed this, so I wonder if some sensor/sensors were affected by the rain? Seems odd and maybe just a coincidence, so who knows.

I've had this issue twice now. Both times it's been a loose electrical harness on the suspension. If that's the issue, you can fix it yourself. The first time it happened it was intermittent based on road conditions.

Can I ask how did you fix this yourself? I'm admittedly not mechanically inclined...

Following up. Do you know the location of the harness?

I had this happen when I first got the R1S and resolved it by a hard reset.

If you have health symptoms you ask a doc, right? Contact support or service. Not the internet to see if someone else is your long lost identical twin with a cosmic link. It’s probably a failed valve in suspension. Either way, unless subscribed to Rivian’s expensive service partner program, no one has ability to read fault codes and diagnose. Hard reset is about the only thing you can try. But submit a ticket and secure an appointment first.
