I noticed this morning driving to church in -4 degree weather, the motors did not overheat to dump it back into the batter. The battery started at 40 degrees and by the time I made it to church approximately 14 miles away the temperature was 44. When leaving church I turned off the Regenerative Brake Assist and motors promptly began to overheat to warm the battery.

I did not schedule a departure this morning to see how much preheating of the battery would be done.

FWIW, my drain dropped from 2-3% per day to less than 0.5%.

After the 50.01 update has anyone noticed the ride seems to be stiffer again? OR it could be just me.....

R1S (DM,LP) updated to .50 a few days ago.

Idle drain seems to have been reduced from 2-4% per day to less than 1% per day.

We did a 200 mi trip after the .50 update and I didn’t notice any difference in suspension feel. I typically run in stiff mode FWIW.

What would you call motors that heat over their normal operating temperature in order to transfer the excess heat produced to warm the battery?

Do you have specs on the motors? How do you know they are over their normal operating temperature?

Reverse is much better this week after updating to 50.01. It used to be quite jumper and too sensitive to lifting your foot. As a good side note regarding Rivian support: I got a call from Rivian on 01/12 offering to schedule me for a mobile service to swap the accelerator pedal because of the recall. I thought it was part of a software update but he said no it is hardware issue. I also asked for a tire rotation and they will do that too at my house. I’m in San Jose, CA and only 30 mins from the closest service center. They will be coming on 01/22 so only 10 days out.

I got the call from service today to replace the pedal. When I saw that number come up I was scratching my head and thinking maybe they are going to replace my tonneau cover soon. FYI, my tonneau still works, but then so does my accelerator.

With the new update about pre scheduling, does the car always need to be plugged in to precondition the battery but not the cabin heating? Or does scheduling the precondition for the car also heat the battery (with the interior).

Given the extreme cold for much of the country, I want to make sure I'm right but missed (or overlooked) the details with the update. Thank you

Being that my vehicles are always plugged in when at home, I have never tried it unplugged; but it is certainly an easy test to do.

For some reason the vehicle pre-conditioning on a schedule seems to be bugged for me. The past few mornings it's been set for 6:55 am (72 degrees, seat & wheel heater). It doesn't seem to turn the climate control on at all. The cabin was at -3 this morning at 6:55. I park outdoors and the truck was plugged in. The first day I created the schedule from my phone. I then deleted it and recreated it in the truck for the second day. No difference.

I've updated the schedule tomorrow and set it at 73 degrees to see if that maters.
