Got this today after I asked if the Max Pack was cancelled.

Rivian R1T R1S The Max Pack Will Most Likely Be Canceled - IMO 7578a182-e877-4fec-8076-965dcbb399cf

Hey Jim,

Thanks for reaching out to us, and I sincerely apologize for the delayed response to your email. With the updates we email to our community regularly, the Rivian Customer Engagement Center has been working around the clock to address our current and future community's questions, concerns, and feedback.

That’s a great question! I do apologize but I don’t have any information regarding if the Max Pack will be canceled. Max Pack deliveries are scheduled for delivery in the first half of 2023.

I recommend keeping an eye on our Newsletter for any upcoming information Rivian might announce regarding the Max Pack.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to reach back out.

Drive Safe,
Zach

FYI there's a guy on Rivian Stories with max pack config who has a guide and a 1H delivery. Of course Rivian could have just made a mistake.

I have a Max Pack config and a guide and a 1H23 window that was given in June. Waiting for the end of Septummer email for the updated window. If that email does not have a more precise 2 month window in the first half of 23, I am going to grab something from the Rivian shop

This email does not inspire confidence. If Rivian is sure the Max Pack will be produced, they would have stated that in the email. Instead, they replied with "I don't know, and look out for news regarding the Max Pack. The CEO already stated that "there will be a battery shortage that will be worse than the chip shortage." So why would they waste additional battery cells on a Max Pack?

Customer service personnel, by design, can't make announcements or commit to future plans beyond what is already published. This kind of email is the best you can hope for on the topic until a formal announcement is made.

I too have a guide and a locked in max pack config with a 1H23 window. The optimist in me likes to believe that’s a good sign, but I’m trying not to get my hopes up until the late summer announcement. I’ve heard of several others with guides as well. I don’t think it’s that uncommon.

Range matters to a lot of people, those that are new to EVs, and those that plan to trailer among others. If Rivian can find some way to make the max pack happen, that will be another big differentiator between them and the rest of the emerging market. Keeping my fingers crossed as both having an order, and a stock holder.

So which high ranking executive at Rivian told you categorically the 180kwh battery for R1T is cancelled?
