The tires on the R1T wear inordinately. I have never had a vehicle that needs new tires at 14k miles. Rivian needs to warranty the tires and put better tires on an expensive vehicle. Very disappointed in the quality

The tires aren't particularly bad. There's only so much tire technology can do for a 7000 lb vehicle with over 800 hp and instant torque that also needs to be as efficient as possible. It's well established that EVs wear through tires faster than ICE vehicles. That kind of tire life is also not at all uncommon for sports cars running summer tires so I've been down this road before with other vehicles. I can see where you would be caught off guard if you simply assumed you would be getting the same tire life as whatever you've been driving in the past.

Real questions and I don’t intend to be snarky.

What tires do you have? How many (be honest)“spirited“ starts and stops a day are you doing? Could it be an alignment problem?

Reason I ask is I’ve got 15k on my 20s and they still look great, but I pretty much drive like grandpa.

Getting a 7,000+ lb vehicle up to speed and stopped again requires a lot, the 835hp makes it feel effortless but it’s not, the tires are paying for it.

Same here. I have over 15k on our 21s and they are in good shape. I rotate every 5k and only drive in all purpose -standard. I don’t expect to get over 40k miles out of them but should be acceptable.

I too burned through mine but I drive it like I borrowed it from someone I don't like. That's not totally accurate but it is fair to say that if you ride with me you're going to know that my truck has 835 hp

Huge complaint on Tesla forums as well.

EDIT: tire rack shows NO TREADWEAR WARRANTY!

I do some spirited driving and have a little over 5000 miles. Treat still looks really good.

The tire Mfgrs. can make harder rubber, the soft rubber is what wears out so quick. Sure the weight is is issue but there are vehicles that weigh many times the weight of a R1T and get 40K miles. The tire companies could make a 21" tire for speed, one for quiet, one for mileage, Etc.

Troll. First and only post. Didn't even bother to search to find the hundreds of other posts on this topic. Hasn't bothered to respond to the replies.
I wonder that about so many posts I see on here complaining about things that aren't an issue for me. I have almost 15k miles on my T(5 on 21's w/ Verdes, 5 on 20's w/ Nokian snow tires and about 5 on the AT's) & 2k on my S w/ the 20 AT's. I went off road quite a bit on the 21's and have done quite a bit of highway driving on the 20's. They all still look pretty new. I usually drive pretty conservatively until I have an unsuspecting new passenger, then I can't help but scare the hell out of them.

Unfortunately there's a little more to it than that and Rivian is trying to balance many different characteristics, not just maximize wear.

I just rotated my 22" tires including putting the spare on the ground. Not the job for an old guy like me. Blessed I had a neighbor that saw what I was attempting to do and came to help. Well I helped him as he did the heavy work. Also please use caution with the lift pucks and jack. That is where 2 sets of eyes really help to avoid a disaster. Lesson learned by me, at 10K miles, taking it to a tire shop and pay them to do the rotation. I just have always done this stuff on my own to make sure no damage to the rims and that it was done correctly. I will remove the middle rod that secures the spare before taking it to a shop, as that is an easy mistake. Hope this helps...

name one vehicle that weighs many times more than the R1T in per tire weight.

Then factor in the acceleration of that vehicle compared to the R1T.
