Leasing Model 3 until R3X comes out, but now I have an R2 reservation as well.
If it’s in a backyard is there an outlet nearby? Even plugging in at 120 would be better than nothing if you can get the charge port to open.
I think his car is at the airport. They honestly should have level 1 charging in the section for long-term parking. Makes perfect sense to me.

Thanks for the kind offers-I’ve booked a flight for Thursday am early to go and see if I can get it into a 110 volt outlet later during the day. Once back in NY I will call a service center to have it serviced. It’s in the back of a private home with a super senior citizen so it’s just worth the round trip for a couple days to solve the problem. I won’t do this again-next time trickle charge for sure. Fingers crossed.

Do you have cell connection? Since the update where you can open just the charge port, there may be one of us in that area that may be able to get you a charge possibly?
stupid question but I just tried to open the charge door remotely however the app stays on “waking”. Is there a manual way to open the charge door? Otherwise I will get the flatbed.

Yeah, that's a fantastic idea! Very simple and inexpensive for a lot to install some of these.

I think. I really didn’t need it but I forgot to shut it off. It’s definitely different than last year so something has changed over this time period.
Is it a Gen1? You might have been hit with the blinking lights issue which drained around 5%/day (or more) for a few days at around July 14th week.

Ugh, not fun to interrupt your trip, but might be worth it. Hope it's a quick fix and you can get back on schedule.

If you leave the vehicle at 0% battery for too long, it will damage the battery for sure and you may face a hefty bill after you come back. If I were you, I would find someone to help charge the vehicle for sure.
Explain why that would damage the battery

That seems like a lot of loss for 40 days. Even at 2% a day you should have some battery left. Do whatever you have to to get it plugged in, even if it is with a 120V extension cord. It's not too late, but it will be once the 12V dies.

Sorry Op, although your 12 volt batt(s) may be shot at this point, the big/expensive propulsion battery will be fine as it has low voltage cutoff protection via the BMS which protects it from over-discharge damage.

At least you're close to the Brooklyn Service Center so flatbed charges from Jamaica will be minimal.

Best of luck!!!

Good luck, I agree that while it might not've worked in this particular case, reaching out to someone on the forum who could stop by and offer a trickle-charge (via remotely opening the charge port door) would be a great option for folks to who have this issue in the future to keep in mind.

Let us know how it goes when you get back. 🙂
