At least this is factual and solvable whining, not like the wankers outside tesla service centers protesting and whining about whatever Elon is doing at doge. Like if the tesla service centers had anything to do with it.
Yeah, your whining is the best :CWL:

While it is true that the Rivian has 120 volt ports, unfortunately they are rather underpowered for some applications. I was planning to use the BLUETTI system to power my RV (I has 30 amp output) and charge the BLUETTI battery with the Rivian 120 volt outlet. Unfortunately that didn’t work as there wasn’t enough power from the outlet to convince the BLUETTI to start charging so that idea when down the drain. Another possibility it to charge it with the 12 volt outlets. I haven’t tried that yet but all the 12 volt outlets are in the cabin and the BLUETTI is in the bed.

A little move power from the 120 volt outlets would have been nice.

It’s 1500 watts - this sounds to me more like a floating ground (which out inverter suffers from) issue than anything to do with power output. If your Bluetti needs more than 1500 watt to start a charge it would not start from most household circuits.

Thank you
. Is there anything I can do to remedy the situation? I would REALLY like to charge up from the Rivian

It would be a nice feature for the R1, but it's not going to happen. As others have said there are ways to run extension cords from the interior outlets and still keep the vehicle secure.

The Gen1 and Gen2 R1's are not capable of exporting AC through the charge port. It can only output DC through the charge port and an external inverter will be required for V2L/V2H capabilities. The R2 will have this capability at launch, though.

I don't think external inverters are all that expensive. There are unlicensed Tesla versions that do this today. This shouldn't be that complicated

My wife recently bought a Lucid Air, which has this interesting accessory ( $125) which allows you to "buddy charge" another EV or battery up to 9.6kw. It requires their "gen2" portable charger with bidirectional capability which retails for $650.

If, as RJ has stated, the charge port is capable of output, something like this might work.

Not officially it cant, only Jerry rigged.

240v to fast charge my stark varg, 240v to charge another ev in distress, 240v to run a portable AC/heater while camping, etc etc etc. And yeah if you brake a tie rod while off roading, so you can weld it back up and be able to drive home.

It's a 100k+ ADVENTURE vehicle, whining continues until its officially addressed.
I’d like to whine about you saying “Jerry-rigged” instead of the proper “Jury-rigged”

The Lucid accessory uses AC output from the charge port. The R1 does not have this capability.

Sure, you can hack anything. Those unlicensed devices are sketchy at best and work by tricking the Tesla into opening the high-voltage relay. Even if this was possible with the R1 it would be a really bad idea for something that's intended for tent camping.

Rivian is supposed to eventually release a V2H solution but that's probably going to require bulky EVSE+Inverter+Dark Start battery similar to systems from Ford, Tesla and GM.

An Anker solix is a pretty effective “gas can” that can L2 charge you in a pinch, fits in the back - and can run your accessories when you are camping (or part of your house in an outage). You can also charge it off your truck at 1500w if you really need to top it up out in the field. You can also slap solar panels on it.

Maybe the gen3’s will have a bigger inverter to output 240v… but it’s no secret the current R1’s don’t do anything better than 1500 watt, single phase 120v.

V2L from the charge port will be nice if/when they enable it but as other mentioned, it will be DC out only so that adapter will need to include an inverter somewhere.

Anker is a good brand.
Ecoflow also has some pretty good options.

This would be my go-to personally. Don't always rely on a single source if possible.

FWIW: My Ecoflow delta pro prefers to charge at ~1800W, but can be manually set to whatever literally whatever wattage you want. That said ~3kW of power normally lasts me a weekend, so I don't have to borrow from the truck too often, unless I'm hitting the AC hard.

Plenty of folks take their Rivian's camping and use extension cords without issues. Personally I don't need any dongle or vehicle to load functions.

FWIW, I lost 48 miles of range in 46 hours of use during the power outage. We only had to unplug the refrigerator when using a countertop induction burner. Otherwise worked fantastic and no worries about loosing the food in the fridge!

Try that with an RV air conditioner and let me know how it goes. You know....real camping.

OP request for a better 120 connection seems reasonable. The request for 240 application is a stretch to me...
