I have taken my R1S to SC twice complaining about the wind noise.
Both times, they have mentioned this amount of wind noise is "normal" - they have noticed a lot worse on other customers.

I don't think the wind noise is "normal" IMHO. Esp the fact that it is noticeably audible from 50-55+mph.

What recourse do I have ? Try another SC ?

PS: this post is specifically for the wind noise, not the road noise. I understand Rivian is not a "quiet" vehicle with the ATs.

Couple other threads on this topic already. My truck was pretty damn quiet and then got noticeably louder with wind noise that I tracked down to the rear edge of the triangle windows. You can confirm with tape. Once I identified the location, I just kinda played with the rubber seal a bit separating it from the plastic trim piece a little. Somehow that did the trick and it's been quiet for over a week now.

Yup, noisy as hell at FWY speeds and mine is also at the little triangle panes next to side mirrors( both driver and passenger sides). I narrowed it down to the main window seal right at the top corner of the triangle. I could greatly reduce the noise if I push hard on the rubber to form a tighter seal. Mobile tech helped confirm it with smoke test, so I'm getting the seal replaced in my next SC visit.

If it’s coming from the small triangle window on the driver’s side door, that’s a known issue and they can address. If it’s coming from there, ask the tech to drive your car while you ride passenger.

It won’t be super quiet at high speeds but there shouldn’t be an acute noise coming from a particular spot of the car.

Did you go to the South SF or San Jose service center?

Because of their shape the trucks will have some wind noise and SOME wind noise is normal. If your getting a LOT of wind noise something isn't right.

What I tell folks is one day, if you have a couple hours, use painters tape and tape up all seams on the front of the truck. Drive it and confirm the noise is gone. Then if it's gone, remove one section of tape at a time and drive until the noise returns. When it returns you have identified the section that is the source and can usually pinpoint the cause.

The cause will usually be a seal or a panel that is not perfectly aligned. If the ladder service can install foam or take other measures to reduce the noise.

If it's normal noise the audio system should be able to block it out fairly easily.

Some known offenders are the triangle glass and the door seals. Also check your windows are up all the way. I had a kink in my window seal on the passenger side which prevented my window from going all the way up (it was about 1/8" short of closed) and it created a terrible noise. I fixed the seal and recalibrated the window and all was good.

I’m having the same issue. Wind noise from driver side window. Mine goes into the Minneapolis SC tomorrow. I’ll update tomorrow with action taken.

Yes, another thing to check is whether your window is fully closing. My passenger side had a small gap at the top (about 1-2mm). The gap was large enough that a flat blade screwdriver could slide through the gap, and this should not be possible if the window is fully closed. The problem is you can't recalibrate this yourself by fully opening and closing the window... it has to be done by the service tech with their tool

FIX for window leak!
I HAD 2 window issues now resolved w mobile service van help.
(Both had failed window calibration, infotainment reset, and full soft reset, suggested by 1800 Rivian Svc Center)

1. Phone app showed driver window was not closing but I knew it was closing and had no leak at speed.
2. Phone app showed passenger window fine, but heard wind leak at speed and I could slip my fingernail over top of the window while standing outside my parked R1T.

David, Rivian tech came out and I expected a hardware issue with a window sensor for the driver door. Instead he fixed both with a software cache memory clear in the window regenerator(?) device.

Surprised but pleased that clearing the memory cache could fix it. He said "not the first time" he had seen this.
