In the bottom of the middle picture is what looks like an emergency latch release. But since you need to get INTO the frunk to remove stuff to access it, it seems unlikely that it releases the frunk latch. But what else could it be a release for? Is it accessible through the grill (which means it could release the frunk)?
It's to open the charge port door, in case of electronic failure.

I would think this is not a good thing for the frunk security
It's not. That's why it's recommended you don't put your valuables up there. Same with a Tesla or other EV. The frunk has to be easily accessible for emergency response so they can cut power to the vehicle. Hence why Teslas still use a standard hood latch and they have been reluctant to incorporating powered open/close functionality.

Agree. That bothered me when I first saw in the R1T Owner's Manual that alternate release mechanism for the hood.

I'm hoping that when the R1 is locked, the vehicle alarm will sound if the hood gets opened like that. Otherwise, the world is just a screwdriver away from unfettered (mostly) access to our frunks.

Isn't that true of most vehicles/buildings?

I see the 12v battery under the cowl. And who said BEV’s were simpler than an ICE vehicle?

where is the 12v battery?

also any chance you can see what type of cabin air filter is there? i've been asking CS if it has a HEPA filter and they don't seem to know or how to find out.
