I don't think it affects every truck. Total conjecture on my part, but my truck might be early enough of a VIN to still have the welded sub frames. Makes me wonder if that's part of the problem. Curious to see how you feel about the suspension noises after you pick-up your truck :)
I've got a 2/23 built truck and I have suspension noise. Seems to be only on the driver side and it's not horrible. Hard to gauge more or less than anyone else's here. It does not make noise on larger bumps, just small bumps where there is a slight loading/unloading of the suspension.

I figure screw it, I'm just going to drive until something gives...and maybe nothing ever will.

Just got mine back from the SC this morning after a 10 day stay.

I had complained about the noise in Jan, but was told it was within spec.
This time I took a drive with the tech, and he said it was not normal.

Just got the truck back and I've only driven 10 miles, but it's like a new vehicle. No abnormal clunking over bumps, no rattle, no damper squirting sound. Nothing. Its so much more pleasant.

They replaced the damper modules, and did the half shaft washers (among other non-suspension-related things).

Will report back if that changes.

Front suspension has become quieter the last 3 weeks or so on uneven pavement under 25.
No known reason why except temps getting a bit warmer. Odo at 6800
This noise has been my biggest disappointment with the vehicle.

Sounds like a dream! I wish they would take them all that seriously and not just kick them back as "in spec"....

Mine does all of what you said yours did and it does dimish the enjoyment factor of the truck.

Right!?! I sold mine because I couldn't stand the noises anymore.

I absolutely love the truck, low cost per mile energy, features, function, etc... But the noisy suspension is not fun...and for me really only fault I have with it.

When you say damper modules, do you mean the whole assembly or just the module that controls what the damper does?

What's funny is that since I got mine in the summer, the AC was always running full blast and never even heard anything out of the suspension until October when I wasn't running it all the time...driving around with no radio or climate control on was enough to question everything.

Sorry, I read from two different parts on the work order. The whole assembly. Left side was Part# C100002751-G, right 2753

Yeah. I agree. I thought they were going to come back with an "in spec" reply, but the tech knew during the drive that it was too noisy.
Funny thing was the loaner was loud like mine, and I thought....huh. Maybe it IS "in spec".

I'll drive it for a few days to see how it sounds, but so far it's much better.

Have had this, along with other things, looked at by the SC twice. Was told that unless there was evidence of physical damage or leakage the dampers would not be replaced. There really seems to be only two alternatives 1) drive the truck until the dampers give out or 2) put enough pressure on Rivian to find a fix as they apparently have done with the half shaft gear lash problem.

It's definitely a bummer....because I am sure Rivian knows what the problem is, but is not taking the appropriate action to take it to the customer satisfaction campaign level, so that people who got noisy trucks can have them fixed. Instead it seems each of us is on our own to elevate, pressure, persuade, or just succumb to defeat and accept it...which is what I suspect they are really hoping happens.

Have you had the new service performed relating to the new washers on the half shafts? I somehow think some of the suspension noise is related to this as well.

Yes that was part of the last SC visit. My R1T was absolutely quiet until about 3,000 miles then the gear lash started. SC tried to fix it twice with the bandaid repair, repack the lube and tighten the bolts. First time just the front end. Second time front and rear. Not effective. The third time I had the new and hopefully improved spacer repair. I have only had the truck back a couple of weeks driven it a couple of hundred miles. The drive lines are tighter and quieter. The question is how long will the third repair last? But the gear lash noise and slack is a very different noise than the dampers. The damper noise didn’t appear until around 5,000 miles. Nearly all my driving has been on pavement.

Just received an interesting call from Rivian regarding my upcoming service next week. Was told they will install the tang washers at all 4 drive shafts. He also said that as they continue to update/improve at the factory, as an early adopter, they will makes these updates to our vehicles too.
