Take this with a grain of salt, but could indicate remote gear guard viewing is coming along with an AA/CP workaround via screen mirroring. Unfortunately it's coming at a cost...

Original Thread

"I’m working with Rivian Fleet on acquiring multiple vehicles (R1’s & RCV’s) for my company. This screen shot was on an info sheet I was sent for a 2023 R1S.
I know this isn’t breaking news, and this actual screenshot may have been posted previously, but I see questions or comments daily about the streaming features. Note that all of these will require a monthly subscription, which is obvious. What excites me is Gear Guard video listed in this box…hoping that remote viewing comes sooner than later. Also pretty excited to learn more about “Fleet Mode”"

No need to wait for AA/CP, Siriux/XM, text-to-audio/voice-text messaging, etc. and pay for any subscription but your phone's data plan thanks to @EVSportLine: https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/...n-has-arrived-new-from-evsportline-com.21489/

means nothing. that could be separate for "fleet orders".
Rivian will likely move to a fee for the "premium LTE service" which they have said they will do at some point and mirrors what Tesla did. You may need the "premium LTE" to enable things like live camera view, entertainment apps and live traffic updates (also like Tesla).
It's doubtful after past customer service screwups that they would make the mistake of trying to nickel and dime customers for each added service separately....even legacy automakers have taken heed and backed off plans to do that...
I just hope (but highly doubt) the eSIM will be programmable to any carrier. We have a 4 line plan and only use 3. We aren’t paying extra for it…. It’s just part of our package with t-mo

I trust Rivian to charge the appropriate amount for the appropriate things and take the best lessons/practices from Tesla and others when implem
kinda dumb to put in 4G LTE when everyone is doing 5G nowadays
I wouldn't say everyone. It is still rolling out and the limitations on distance for 5G would make it even less available in the near term.

Unlimited cell data is not cheap from anyone. I am thinking it's going to be $30 to $50 a month.

I would also like to see an extended warranty subscription.

Your high trust level reminds me of a buddy who has three daughters, and it’s Friday night, and they all have dates coming to pick them up. Dad makes them all wait upstairs so he can meet their boyfriends at the door before letting them out into the night.

First guy comes to the door, haircut, clean clothes, flowers and says:

”Hi, my name’s Joe, I’ve come to pick up Flo, we’re gonna go see the show, is she ready to go?”

Dad is quite impressed, sends his first daughter off on her date, a bit less nervous.

Second dood comes to the door, wearing a jacket and tie, and greets Dad with:

”Hi, I’m Freddy, I’ve come for a date with Betty, we’re going to go eat spagetti, is she ready?”

Dad’s starting to feel more confident in these contemporary young men. Pours himself a whiskey, and waits for the third guy.

Third guy shows up, dirty T Shirt with Marlboros rolled up in one sleeve, driving a rusted out van and says:

“I’m Chuck….”

You should shop around.
I have unlimited Data AND Unlimited Hot spot and spend less than $30/month for my line with TMo (I believe it's 21.50, but don't quote me on that exact number).

Theoretically, I could be throttled if I go over 50GB in a month, but 1- I rarely do, and 2- on the rare occasions I have, I've never noticed any throttling.

We have 6 people (and 2 kids smartwatches) on our plan, and spend less than $200/month (and we have a few devices and protection plans on that). Just saying... Heck, even my watch gets unlimited LTE for $5/month (not that my watch can pull any real data numbers...).

A buddy of mine also swears by Mint Mobile. He definitely pays less than I do, but there are more limitations.

From what I've read, it's closer top $15 a month for car companies, assuming they share our their data like location.

My premium subscription from Tesla is $9.95/month, and I paid in advance and got a small discount. All I use it for is navigation with traffic.

All I really need from Rivian for streaming cellular signals is to make sure my navigation system works and has traffic data. Oh yea, now I will need cellular connectivity to stream SiriusXM radio because they didn't put the hardware in the car. Already pay for SiriusXM now I have to pay to get it because they didn't add the hardware to the car, I call BS.

I don't use any music streaming services since I would get all the music news, and talk radio I want without interruptions or commercials with SiriusXM radio service. Now I need Rivian's streaming service because they didn't add $40 worth of hardware.

Every time this comes up, I really get pissed off because I live in an area with really poor to no cellular service. So when streaming works, Bluetooth for SXM, I get poor reception, garbled voice with dropped service or no service at all.

For me, adding a browser is key to getting a slicker AA/CP workaround. They’ve been implementing this for a while on Teslas, where it’s basically a Raspberry Pi based device that you link into through the wifi and browser. It’s come a long way and I didn’t get a chance to use it when I had a Tesla but been reading good things. If Rivian is setup with a Browser, it ought to be almost if not plug and play. This can enable CarPlay on the screen and without any subscriptions.
