Air suspension noise - is it normal?

My R1S makes the clicking sound when the suspension is adjusting. Not the end of the world but pretty odd given that other cars (XC90, S, X) adjust effectively silently. Has anyone actually gotten Rivian's take on it?

What height setting, Auto? I took mine out of auto and have been running in standard height most of the time. Still hear some sounds, mechanical clanking kind of sounds.

It does make some noise, but shouldn't be crazy. Make sure you have your foot off of the brake.

Yeah, it isn't am overwhelming sound but it is different from the sound you hear if you keep your foot on the brake (that sound is pretty common and makes sense given the change in the vehicle's geometry). Still love the truck though.

FWIW, have MB GL w/air and no noises. Have R1S on order, so a bit nervous about this. Not normal.

It's not all the time. I hear it only when its going from kneeling to the auto-height when I leave my garage. It also makes clunking/thudding noise when you go over speed bumps. I think its all noises we didn't hear in ICE cars because there are engine noises present and now that I know it is making these noises, I'm always hyper-aware of them.

Now I am hyper aware of it and hear it even more ??‍. I have an uneven driveway and was sitting waiting for family to come out, the R1S, just kept trying to level itself and kept clicking, drove me nuts!!

I had rear air suspension in my GX and while it was quieter than my R1T (though I could still hear the compressor in the GX), the R1T is substantially faster when it comes to adjustments. For me, it’s a easy trade off for a more responsive experience.

By far the noisiest and firmest air suspension I've had. My Range Rover and even my previous 2021 Ram 1500 Limited w/ air was quieter and feels like you're riding on "air".

Hello all - I am a new owner (got my R1S in mid-December). I did not notice the noise when I test drove a buddy’s R1T. However, immediately noticed the noise as I drove off the lot when I picked up my vehicle in Richmond. In an otherwise impeccably designed and manufactured vehicle, I am surprised that these loud clicking noises were deemed acceptable. I can understand noises associated with fans, compressors, etc…. But the loud clicking sound (which I assume are solenoids) should not have made it through to the production vehicle. There is no reason for this.

The clicking sounds and air suspension noise while the vehicle is kneeling (after parking) is annoying at times but love the vehicle and decided to live with it. Is it possible to fix this issue via OTA software update or is it purely mechanical in nature? Just curious..

Mine clicks and clacks a lot when adjusting at low speeds. I was worried about it early on, but it doesn't seem to change.

In the interest of public safety, I'll take them! I'll make sure those clicking vehicles are (eventually) disposed of appropriately! ? ?

Same. In particular backing downhill down my driveway. Clicks the whole time. Doesn't bother me much as long it isn't going to cause damage or become a bigger problem.
