Not saying it's definitely not legit but I also can't speak for the legitimacy of that Gofundme.

Anyone wanting to support Lukas can buy his harness instead of the one from Comma. Yes, it's $150 more, but it helps fund the development. You will get it about a month sooner. Then just buy the Comma 3X and 8 Degree mounts separately from the Comma website. You'll also need a 10 ft. USB-C extension cord from Amazon.

His contact info is on the site too if you just wanted to send him some money.

The GoFundMe is legit. I know the person who set it up. He’s one of the earlier adopters of a Comma for Rivian and a member of the North Texas Rivian club.

He was kind enough to help me with my install as I have some dexterity issues thanks to some accidents.

The main issue remaining is the set speed one. That will give Comma longitudinal control. Comma.Ai has given a $1k bounty for the developer that solves this first. There is an additional one being setup via Go Fund Me. If you want to contribute to help incentivize finding a fix, you can go here. Once this is solved it will be a major leap forward. Right now Comma 3X relies on using Rivian's ACC for speed control.

Go here to contribute. It also tells more about it. It was started by a Rivian Club member in Texas.

I have a good feeling it’s going to happen. ?Might be a little complicated but…

I have to say I am really impressed with it so far. It isn't flawless as it needs a bit more torque on some turns but damn is it smooth. It is totally hands free as well. The lane change feature works very well. It has worked incredible well even on some crappy two lane roads with construction.

Rivian would have been better to just use open pilot with their hardware. Absolutely the best mod I've done to my truck so far. Even with the limitation of using the stock ACC, it works so well.

This is great news and I just ordered the comma 3x, 8mm mount, and 10ft usb c extension. Any installation advice or additional purchases to make it easier?

If you ordered the harness and 3x from directly comma, it should come with the 8 degree mount and 10ft cable already.

What year is your truck? Based on the guy who helped me with mine, the 2022's were easier to do than the 2023's, at least with the R1T. There is a harness that is right in the way of the connector now that wasn't there before.

You can't get much clearance around it but there is enough. Also unsnap the carpet in that area to get more room. A friend with a flashlight or a small floodlight in the area would help too.

It is absolutely worth the effort. I've been driving with it everywhere now. So nice to have totally hands free. Get the Chun mount for the device. That thing is sweet. It is magnetic and slides in too. Makes it so easy to remove and hide when parking in a sketchy area. I launched my truck and it still didn't come off.

Sign up for a connect.comma.ai account and scan the barcode when you get it. It will upload your drives when you connect back to wifi if you don't pay for their cellular connection. Can do that an bring your own SIM to save some money.

Don't install the base OP OS. You'll want to use the Rivian fork until it is merged into the main code branch which is almost there. Also check out SunnyPilot which is a different flavor of OpenPilot. Think almost like different distros of Linux. All the basic goodness of OP but added features. It isn't available yet as the Rivian fork hasn't hit the main code base yet but it is advancing quickly.

LMK if you want to know more. I am almost as excited about this as actually getting the truck. This is an absolute game changer and in my mind, it is far more useful to me than the current Gen2 capabilities.

I actually ordered the harness from Lukas to support his tremendous work on porting to Rivian (and it doesn't use OBDII for power and will get here sooner). Ordered the comma3x and 8mm mounts from comma.ai.
The comma.ai harness doesn't require ODB power either. And the 3x should have come with the 8 degree mounts if you designate that it's for Rivian.

Awesome thanks for the tips! It sounds like this is a fantastic option for us Gen 1 owners (mine is a 2023 R1S Gen 1 single battery) that would like continued ADAS development as Rivian inevitably ignores us. I actually messaged wassym if they could "unofficially" help comma.ai with Rivian integration as that would help not only comma.ai but also reduce the Rivian resources to continue working on the separate code base of Gen 1 ADAS. I'm awaiting my harness from Lukas and comma3x (no Chun mounts available currently) but not looking forward to the tricky install. Then give us EV Play CarPlay and it will be like an entirely new Rivian!

That 4-6 week lead time is going to seem like forever now.
Sounds like I'll be glad I have a '22

Started poking around in github and reading discord as a distraction :)

How do you install the Rivian fork?

Thanks for all this information! It's a bit confusing because comma's web site appears to show basically complete functionality available for Rivian. Have these changes been merged or is there something they are counting as part of "all" functionality that's incomplete or janky?

Would this work when tow mode is on?

You can use the release 3 staging fork. Just go to https://openpilot-test.comma.ai/ and load from there. Don't let it install OpenPilot (OP) from the main screen when the device starts up. Also make sure you set up a connect account and scan the barcode on the device and have it added it to your account.

The latest updates will be automatically pulled from that release fork until it goes into general release as part of the main OP software. Just make sure you connect it to WiFi or subscribe to their service to keep getting the updates. Once it is setup it, it will let you know if a new release is out so you can update it. Very simple, just like Mac or Windows updates at that point.

Sorry for the dumb question or if this has been answered already, but how exactly does this connect to the Rivian? Is it just a camera that mounts to the windshield, and a wire to the OBDII port? And the rest is done in software?
