Aloha XD, I too have had the dreaded too close to white line syndrome & my unauthorized fix is to tap/push the left or right side of the windshield mounted Comma 3X & the "nudge" usually shifts the vehicle a smidgen to the left or right as needed & away from the white line. Too hard a nudge on the 3X & it wants to recalibrate. Mine usually does not reset back to the edge of the road again. I'm on the SP / Staging / Nov 11, w/GWMV9 Model with a few miles of driving with the 3X

Real simple question but those that have had Comma and then had issues with their vehicle (like Kyle at out of spec) is this permanent damage to the vehicle electronics or the vehicle completely reverts back to factory with no issues as soon as Comma is unplugged?

Have to say that after Kyle had issues and Rivian chased it back to the Comma AI system as the reason, it pulled my desire for Comma. Pretty poor on Kyle for not having a detailed video on exactly why the issue and his million details. Was it resolved? Was it a connection issue?

I haven't read the rest of the thread yet, I bet this was addressed, but adding my own direct experiences. There was no long term issue, the most I had to do at one point was the fireman's loop reset. But I was very early in adopting this, and there have been a million things learned since then (some from my wild ride). Eventually I did a whole new fresh installation with a C4 and had a sensor issue. It was probably due to an incompatible USB cable (self provided, not from them). A disco reset fixed it. There's currently just no danger with it, and a LOT of documentation. But it's not like going and buying a toaster. You do have to do some research, and it's still a sort of "hacky" add on. But not hard.

I’ve had my Comma 4 for just over a week and started with OpenPilot. It was much better than Driver+ on highways, not great on side streets due to needing to disengage for stop signs, corners, etc

Installed the Sunnypilot Dev since full Comma 4 support is in development.

This is a game changer with MADS mode. This lets you use one peddle driving and is seamless on side streets.
I drove it about 150 miles yesterday on the 5 freeway and surface streets through Carlsbad in the rain and it was perfect.

I could not recommend this enough for a Gen1.

I've decided that I'll always call it "cooperative driving." I find that people instinctively understand the concept, so I can more easily explain it.

My spiel: You know how most cars just completely disable any assist and fight you if you try to steer them while they are driving? The Comma just lets you correct it or turn, and then when you let go, it continues self driving with no drama. You can even just correct the lane position of there's a problem, bicyclist, etc without a fight. Then simply let go and it's still working.






The last remaining problem that's simply horrible on Comma with Rivian is the stopping distance and inability to modulate the accelerator at low speeds. It's crazy to me that this can't be fixed, still.

One thing to keep in mind is that there's been no real tuning that way specifically for Rivians at this point. We're only barley over 8mo into being supported and the person responsible for making it happen doesn't even own one.

The collaborative steering is a little easier to explain (especially for other Rivian owners who either have it for their Gen 2s or have heard about it), but for MADS I've started referring to it as "reverse cruise control" - instead of the car controlling the speed while the driver steers, it's the opposite. They seem to get it after that.

Sounds like sunny pilot is preferred for Rivians over open pilot, is that right?
Now that they made device smaller it looks more appealing to me.

There are added features with Sunnypilot. Openpilot is great if you are happy with only using it on the highway since Rivians ACC will only dial down to 20mph. Sunnypilot along with the added longitudinal adapter offers even more options. Take a ride with someone that has one installed. It will make up your mind, I'm sure

What does this additional dongle do exactly? I saw it is an extra $400 and needs extra cable to Comma. From description it sounds like it is only for changing speed via steering wheel, did I get it right?
