True. Apple or android auto are not optimized with rivian or tesla software. So for instance you are on trip, android or apple can’t predict where to charge and for how long. You have to figure by yourself. I had my rivian in Sc for service and got Chevrolet Silverado EV as a loaner. Was nice truck took it to Joshua tree and other trips. Same issue android auto cant communicate with truck. So I had to use plug share and ABRP to find chargers and route planning. So I don’t know why is every one so excited about android or apple car play. Just because you can listen to music or send text or some basic stuff. Doesn’t matter if you get stuck somewhere because your android was not able to figure out when or where to charge. Had same issue with my 2022 Kia EV6. So pls no android or apple for rivian or tesla for sure.

Actually, Google maps added planning based on specific vehicles and you can enter it in settings when route planning. I don't see specific SoC options but looks like it might be integrated soon as it has range information. Android auto is able to communicate with vehicles to a certain extent as on my other car, it knows to when to switch to night mode.

Last summer Google showed off the ability to do route planning complete with charging and pre-conditioning within Android Auto in the Mustang Mach E. But as far as I know Ford STILL hasn't publicly released the update required to make this work.

But I'm gonna make some people mad by saying this: I think Rivian is making the right decision to not include Android Auto/car play.

In my old Mach E the infotainment was so horrid that it needed it. But Rivian is EONS ahead of Ford so I don't miss it, even a little bit.

Looks like 2024.51.1 is now in testing per data on ElectraFi. Guess they found some bugs they needed to squash.

I think it's rolling out now. 45 pending installs on electrafi.com.

No, I think you're misreading that thread. Those heat sources on Gen 1 were because they never powered down the RADAR and camera hardware. There aren't heaters for the front facia in Gen 1.

Interesting - there was a video that called this out specifically as a Gen 2 change. And I have a couple friends with gen 1 trucks and they regularly get caked with snow. Maybe it was only in early builds or something?

As for Gen 2 I can confirm that it's not active. I've been caked with snow/ice multiple times

Heated front fascia is huge for me. Snow/slush accumulation on sensors is a real PITA

IMO this may not be exactly what you think it is. It will take a significant heat source and power to melt snow and ice off the front fascia, and it specifically says a small section to ensure sensor performance. I suspect this is more likely to keep only the front center radar (which is used for Driver plus) warm from erroneous operation.
There is a bulletin “RCI-52-23-001-1: Fascia, Front” that expresses repair concerns about this area.
