On another note, I had been using the Down to Ride model with the Comma 4 on my Gen 1 R1T. It was mostly good, but failed on a lot of sweeping type turns. The other day, I downloaded the Northern Nevada Model V2. While not perfect, it is significantly better than Down to Ride at handling these types of corners. It is also very good on unmarked rural roads. I have also tried WMI V12 and it was a definite no go. So for now, until I find something better, it’s going to be Northern Nevada Model V2.

WMI 12 with the 8 degree adapter solved my lanekeeping and curve issues. I may try the Nevada just to see how it is.

For me, WMI 12 drove right onto the shoulder on unmarked road corners. It just didn‘t stay in its lane well enough. It’s odd that different folks have different experiences, even with basically the same Rivian. Northern Nevada is definitely the best I‘ve tried at handling corners smoothly. Don’t get me wrong -it still needs some work for my rig. I’m coming to the conclusion that mountain roads are never going to be the best environment for the Comma.

Well, here’s a new one. I got in my truck, today, went to activate my Comma 4, and the Comma display said “SunnyPilot unavailable”. What’s the deal with that? I tried disconnecting it from the mount and reconnecting it, but that didn’t do anything. I even did a software reset on the Rivian. That didn’t work either. I logged on to the SunnyLink website and it shows my Comma as being connected, no problems. So, what’s going on here?

It's a bug with fingerprinting. Go to the "Vehicle" settings and deselect the Rivian and let it fingerprint automatically again.

So I took the plunge and installed the C4 over the weekend (stock harness/mount), and I"m quite surprised at how well it works so far for highway and local roads. I'm not ready to commit to the dev harness just yet.
I have yet to get the 8deg angle adaptor, but even without it, seems to work okay for what I need (mostly highway driving). I"m using the OBD power adaptor for now.

For anyone thinking to do it, the install was truly a b*tch, even with my preparation, and tons of helpful guides and videos from Gerry and others. Mentally be prepared for some frustration with getting that connector to align, and tons of patience and time. Honestly there were moments of panic when I realized it will take more effort. I chose to go in from the front through the little gap, and had to use a screw driver to poke at the connector to form that 90deg angle.. I think it might be possible to make the install process easier coming from behind that HV bundle with some plastic wedge, and something from the front to help guide it in.

Kudos to the Comma development team, community and the guys bringing this to our Rivian, very cool product!

Could you share information or video for this"8deg angle adaptor" ?

I remember that FSD for a long time had a turning angle restrictions and was not able to use a roundabout. Is there a similar issue with Comma 4?

The limitations now are mostly model-related. We have the capability with the new angle-based steering harness, but driving models haven't caught up to take advantage of it yet.
