As expected no VD overnight. Sitting at 135 miles which is the same as last night. Awesome way to protect my excess solar production now.

Thanks for your posts! I also have a dual 12V battery R1T and was hoping to go the OBDII port route (just for ease of connectivity).

Have you been able to determine what happens to the secondary/passenger-side battery when charging via OBDII port? My understanding is that the OBDII port only connects to the primary 12V battery on the driver's side. I am wondering whether all the VD (wake up/sleep cycles) are using just the primary battery.

My alternae route would be to go with @NY_Rob's solution and wire up both 12V batteries for trickle charging.

Amazingly, when my R1T is at home, with Bluetooth on my phone disabled, it sleeps like a baby:

I have to drive out in a little bit, but has been one of the longest sleeps I've recorded. But it has been not awaking itself every so often (as it did last week when parked at my office) for days.

Also, FYI, I'm measuring the 12V Battery from the Ride menu every morning to see the voltage. I think in the future this will give me some data :)

You had a new battery installed right?

Last month. Yes.

That's basically the main reason why I'm sharing. It should be easier to compare with others in the same situation (Bluetooth disabled, R1T dual-battery, garage-parked, motions disabled at home, etc). Also, in a year from today, I will have this behavior documented and I can compare what's the 12V battery situation.

Maybe (Maybe?) certain amounts of 'wake' events in the same controlled situation might serve as a warning sign for the 12V battery and that might avoid me getting my R1T bricked once again :)

I’m not sure the number wakes equate to potential degradation. There a number of members here, including me who’s vehicles wake on/off since day one.

Do you know if the new battery manufacturer differs from the old one?

Other than Rivian, who sells a Rivian size AGM battery, not a LFP battery.

I couldn't check on the new batteries specs. I removed the cowl cover but couldn't clearly see any codes/model

I just had a new 12V put into one of my R1S's (2023 Gen 1 Quad Large) after getting an alert to replace in the app. I talked to the mobile tech. He said it's the same battery as the original.

^ that seems par for the course, Rivian is pretty much status quo on Gen 1 VD at this point. They're just replacing parts with the same parts that the vehicle came with from the factory. They are not looking to fix the issue.

I don't think this will give you any meaningful data. The vehicle will boost voltage to ~14.25v when it wakes.

Not always, I assume that's while charging only (? not really sure)

My reads are MOSTLY at 13.3 to 13.5. I do see it ramping up to 14.xx when plugged in :)

Well, yes, you are correct. ~ 13.5v when operational, but it boosts to ~14.25v when charging the 12v (which it does nearly every time it wakes in my experience). But the battery also drops to nearly 12v before it wakes to charge. If it doesn't... this is when we have vehicle problems. That's why several of us have installed real-time 12v battery monitors to detect when that charging doesn't kick off, so we can intervene to prevent a brick.

As a matter of fact, this is why I'm monitoring this almost every morning consistently. If every day I see my battery at 13.x and then I start seeing it at 14.x every day, I will start assuming my 12V is being charged more often than before which might (possibly) indicate an aging battery.

Just remember (in case you haven't seen it from the posts above) my 12V batteries were replaced last month as I woke up to a bricked truck once :)

One thing I want to know is How many miles/months from the current behavior to a more-frequent charging behavior. That impacts VD heavily (I've seen 1% with motion guard enable and basically 0% at home with Motion disable and Bluetooth disabled in my phone as well).
