Rivian proactively replaced my 12V battery during a service visit for a couple other customer campaigns at the service center.

I’m glad they were able to replace it for me and I can depend on it for a daily driver.

How's this for timing... Dropped my truck off yesterday for 36,000km service checkup (currently at 43k). Got this today.

Thankfully it's still there! So messaged them and they added it to the work order.

Dodged that bullet!

Side note, was chatting with a coworker about it and he's blown away by Rivian service. He commented "no wonder you love the vehicle, they treat you so well. All my vehicles, the dealership treats me like shit"
Let us know if they replaced it for free. The actual warranty should be up to 36K miles, hence my question.

My 2023 died 5 months after purchase. Went to the store, came home, went out 3 hours later and it was dead as a door nail.
Mine had to be towed to the SC. No idea why.

the SC did say the battery was lead acid battery which I found surprising. I thought it would be an AGM battery.

I will say Rivian was quick to get me a rental in a couple hours. I have seen a couple YouTube videos about using a jump kit to get the car started. Once operational, I guess the 12v power can come from the main battery.

Let us know if they replaced it for free. The actual warranty should be up to 36K miles, hence my question.
I'm currently at 41,000 kms. warranty is good for 3 years or 60,000kms in Canada

You guys get ~3000km of extra warranty compared to the USA 36.000 miles ;-)

It's okay, you guys get an extra 15-1600 kms on pretty much every other warranty.

Shaking my Canada mitten covered fist out my Igloo at you Americans as we speak.

Service center replied this morning saying the 12volts were bad so they have been replaced but now they are experiencing an issue with the TPMS not reporting correctly... no updates since this morning. A little concerning about the 12v issue as mine is less than 2 years old and has just under 12k miles.

Probably not related, but I had my Rivian in for an alignment last month. They must've put it in service mode and fiddled with the seat memory while test driving it (and turned the radio to some awful station, LOL). Oddly, I noticed the TPMS wasn't showing on the driver's dashboard when I toggled to it on the drive home. Just "--" marks. After another day of driving it showed up again. What I suspect is "service mode" temporarily clears the data. Maybe they just need to give it a little more time? Good luck.

i’m not exactly sure what the issue was but they said it was reporting incorrectly. They finally gave me another update. They believe it’s a software bug. They wanted to keep it one more night, just in case.

Actually just serviced my 12v battery today. Launch Edition 2023 R1S, took delivery April 2023. I have about 10,000 miles on it.

Pretty smooth experience in my opinion. Rivian proactively called and texted me to set up an appointment. I couldn't be at home, but was told I could just unlock it remotely when Rivian mobile service arrived. Two days later, Rivian service arrived, did it all remotely, and I returned home to an R1S with no more 12v issues.

Haven't drove it yet, but one odd thing happened after the 12v replacement. My remote live view of Gear Guard cameras don't connect. Strange, because it was working right before the replacement. Gonna chat with support, because I have not seen any mass reports of live view not working so it must be isolated with me.

We have September 2023 and December 2023 R1S. The newer model received the Replace 12V error message. We called Rivian on Monday and they scheduled mobile service to replace on Friday.

Service completed no problem. Go Rivian!

Curious if anyone puts a Victron shunt on the 12v battery to monitor SOC and draw on the battery. Because there is no alternator it gets charged by the main DC battery? Or during main battery charge from AC?

I wonder if monitoring would be helpful? I also wonder if a trickle charger when it’s parked would be good.

Same with mine. My R1s completely dead. I got a “preventative call” to do the 12V replacement and the rep said it wasn’t urgent since they scheduled me for Feb 2025. But same day i tried to open my car and it was completely dead. Waiting on service to get back to me as to when they can replace it. They are arranging a car rental for me. But still very concerning since it could have died on me when i was outside and stranded.
