Merry Christmas, all.
My campaign against abbreviations continues, with the admonition that VD is a particularly unfortunate one.
What’s the cure for VD? Antibiotics. Unless it’s herpes.
What’s the difference between love and herpes? Herpes lasts forever.

Apparently I've already burnt through 1.5kWh and it's 10:30am ? my eco-friendly kilowatt burner

My phantom drain has improved significantly in The four days since I updated to 2024.47.1
What is your reported battery capacity? Me and others have noticed this has dropped since the update (and seems to fluctuate a bit now), and it's inversely related to the reported SOC. Maybe that's related and messing with vampire drain numbers.

My VD is down slightly, from 1.8 to 1.6kWh per 24 hours, but reported battery capacity is down from 130 to 125 kWh. Though, with only a few days of data, I'm not confident trusting these numbers yet.

Oh, it is a little lower at 127.4 kWh instead of 130 kWh

I was surprised I hadn't seen a thread about this yet. My vampire drain is wayyy down.

I wonder if this just has to do with revamped capacity though, as now that I've sat a day or two it's starting to move.

Whatever they did, definitely reduced VD more than half. Just testing it again last night parking for 14 hours. Lost 0.5 kwh.

Definitely big difference. Parked outside for 72 hours at the lot where we begin snowshoeing into our cabin in Colorado. Nighttime temps in the single digits. Elevation 11,000 feet. Gear guard off. SOC went from 73% to 72%. Major improvement. Next time I'll leave Gear Guard on and see how it does.

I showed earlier that mine went from sleeping most of the time (43.30) to now, sleeping rarely with 1 minute sleeps. That’s now settled in to cycles of sleeping 1:03 and awake 1:03.

There was talk on another thread - don’t remember if here or Reddit or…) of sensors on Gen2 were supposed to be heated and didn’t seem to be.

So my R1S stays in a climate controlled garage. It’s about 65° in there. I opened the back this morning and touched the backup camera instead of the button to open the top hatch. And it was warm. Noticeably warm.

And I haven’t driven it in two days.
So I checked the front camera. Also warm.

I went from losing 1% per day on previous SW to 3% minimum on current. In a Max, that’s over 4 kWH.

Wondering if cameras are warm from sensors, or just staying on, and if that’s a big part of vampire drain.

GG is turned off at home.

I'm really looking forward to getting the 2024.47 OTA update; Rivian support assures me it's coming soon and should be pushed to my R1T before the end of the first quarter in 2025.

Just joking. Not about not getting the update - I'm still waiting for it - but about when. Rivian support has no idea and keeps telling me it's coming soon.

eletraFi today is reporting my capacity is back to 129.8 kWh

I parked the truck at the airport at 75%, and when I returned 6 days later, the truck was at 70%. This was half the phantom drain as recent trips with air travel.

I now have 8 days of data on this software version:

Gut feeling is that it has improved. Not that mine was ever bad, to begin with. Maybe a mile a day now, if I park outside my garage.
