2.5 Hours to add 3%. Outside temp is -2F. Is this typical? Thoughts?

Yes. It is warming the battery and will not truly start charging into the battery until the battery is at 32F to prevent damaging the battery, and will charge more slowly.

Yes - Charging a battery that is too cold will damage the battery. The car is smart and knows this and protects itself. It should be heating the battery, and once it is sufficiently thawed start charging. Depending on how cold the battery is that could take a while.

Outside temp is -15 degrees and -33 windchill. I am out of town for work and my truck sat outside the battery is currently at 10 decrees. I have a level 2 charger at my motel. IT is charging at 7.5kw and shows 2 miles per hour. Most of the energy is going to warm the battery. This is typical for an EV.

Was it charging at 9.4 kW the entire 2 hours? What was the battery temp when you started? If the battery was cold (below 250-30F) then that might be about right at that exterior temp with the battery needing to warm up.

I'm assuming you typically get ~11 kW on your L2 charger?

I was inside so I am not sure about the battery temp. Since the outside temp
Was below zero, I imagine the battery temp was similar.

my L2 charger normally charges at 11kW.

We’re at a measley 6 mph no matter what outside though we’ve only hit 10f this season - maybe our L2 is a low amp 240 once in awhile it goes to 7
At the Rivian SC and other places we’ve had L2’s deliver 16 mph
