Lectron vortex adapter (level 3 supercharger to CCS)

Anyone pre order a lectron vortex adapter? Seems like a decent backup option if it works at most superchargers. I think we expect a rate premium at Tesla chargers and both Tesla and rivian will need to allow this to work. So some concerns about how soon this will actually be an option.

This adapter will not work until Tesla opens up things to Rivian on the back end. Also, you will be able to get the same price as Tesla owners but in order to get the lower rates there is a $12.99 per month membership fee.

Rivian is supposed to supply these adapters to current owners starting in April.

The email they sent out while back. While it didn't mention April it said as early as Spring 2024.

That was sent out mid June 2023 so plans could have changed by now. It also says they will offer the adapter.

It's possible they will charge for the adapter too.

Either way, I'm waiting for Rivian's officially supported adapter or further guidance from Rivian on 3rd party adapters.

No the email from June 20 says "As early as Spring 2024". Spring starts on March 19th this year. I translated that to April.

It’s likely. Ford announced spring as well but now they’re getting access in February.

I think we expect a rate premium at Tesla chargers

Same rate as RAN with membership, $0.35 for my R1T today at my test charge locally. Works out pretty much to the price of gas for a 20MPG truck. Sticking with home @ $0.05 and free chargers near work normally and only when needed on trips.

Most likely. I don’t think the NACS to CCS adapter will also work with J1772.

We are hopeful that if Ford gets the Tesla Supercharger access in February, we will also. This is something that we are greatly looking forward to as we are ready to start using the R1T to pull our Airstream Travel Trailer all over the country.

Love the RAN setup with a dedicated trailer pull thru. Used in Cleveland area. Great location off I80. Another is the Toledo/Maumee off I80 with pull thru charging.
