Marchin_MTB, you live in Colorado. Just walk down the street ...Why would there be an owl!? How is it related to the Halloween mode owl? Also where can I obtain the shrooms that make the Owl appear?
The only thing I could grasp at is that the vehicle will be going to sleep because PAAK is no longer detected? Will be interesting to find out what Rivian says on this matter.Going out on the limb (the one with the Owl) here and suggesting that this is not the intended behavior of the software.
I have questions. It seems like a watchdog thread on android auto took over.
Assuming it’s what OP saw, that’s the right portion of the default screen in the phone app on the central display in dark/night mode with no contact selected. I think it shows a bird during the day.I have questions. It seems like a watchdog thread on android auto took over.
@SoCal Rob What’s the story on this?
Got it. I almost never use the phone screen so I never paid attention to the graphic before.Assuming it’s what OP saw, that’s the right portion of the default screen in the phone app on the central display in dark/night mode with no contact selected. I think it shows a bird during the day.
Why it would show up is the real mystery, but it was the first thing I thought of. I’m assuming some kind of bug, but maybe hardware related since we haven’t seen it before. The fact that their phone was showing the service number and “ready to call” makes me think the two things are likely related. I just don’t know how.
Edit: typos
I'm like you in that I almost never use the phone screen. The only reason I remembered the owl is because it was just so... random. It could be a place-holder for future functionality.Got it. I almost never use the phone screen so I never paid attention to the graphic before.

For the OP it sounds like it was a on-screen render when the screen partially froze.
I’m also curious why we have a bird sitting on a phone as a filler image.

Making the giant screen a single purpose phone display, leads to designers looking to fill the dead space. Maybe instead, we can get a more sophisticated display where you can see multiple activities at once. Some that come to mind: navigation, music selection, gauges.I'm like you in that I almost never use the phone screen. The only reason I remembered the owl is because it was just so... random. I know Rivian doesn't like the concept of a home screen, but maybe they could introduce a custom screen. Then we could drag various tiles onto it based upon our own needs. I'd love to have some of the gauges, a map which could be resized to some multiple of tiles, the drive mode strip from the left side, and a mini audio display all on my custom screen.Making the giant screen a single purpose phone display, leads to designers looking to fill the dead space. Must be from Portland.I’m also curious why we have a bird sitting on a phone as a filler image.
Some of their indicator icon choices do leave you scratching your head. Finally realized that it describes in words any triggered indicator under the bell notification icon on the center screen. Doubt it works in this case though - that reminds me of the microsoft blue screen of death.WTF does that mean??!! Rivian should put a more descriptive message there
A Rivian Widget Standard for the main screen would be way cool. Individual elements (like the compass, like a map portion, like some SOC data) could all be widgets and owners can drag-and-drop their widgets onto a custom page. Rivian could use widget metadata to discover elements that aren't needed or maybe have bugs because nobody selected them.I know Rivian doesn't like the concept of a home screen, but maybe they could introduce a custom screen. Very possible it’s another fake AI post or something. It’s becoming a bit of a trend for a user to sign up, make 1 negative post, usually with odd syntax, no pictures of the issue, and then disappear. This one fits the bill, unfortunately.Man that’s terrible sorry to hear that. Stories like this make me thankful I canceled my Rivian order after 2 unsuccessful deliveries. They won’t survive if this keeps up… love the brand but they have a long way to go for survivability.
