For what it’s worth. Venice hub was clueless about this “change”. Any chance this might have been miss application between wood trim vehicles and non wood trim seats?

I honestly don't mind it, but it was a bit of a surprise. This wood trim just doesn't feel like it will last and live well, in my opinion. It seems like it needs to be oiled and sanded. Again, just my opinion.
Yeah, same feeling. VIN 15xx and I wouldn't have noticed. Maybe having it will increase the resale price in 40 years when these things become collector items.

After seeing better pictures of the plastic, I think it looks fine, possibly better than the wood (well at least the black ash, I might be disappointed to loose out if I paid for Forest Edge and its nice brown wood trim). The wood is a little rough. I picked up some dry cleaning, and tried to use the hanger on the back of the seat, and I was worried I was going to damage the wood. I don't think I would've had the same concerns with the smoother plastic. I also think the plastic would be easier to keep clean long term.
Here's a better pic in daylight for others seeing this thread who may have a concern. Looks fine to me.

At some point they will realize that launching with 3 different interiors was a bad idea. 2 would have been enough. Even though Ocean Coast was problematic, it seems like a light and dark option makes most sense. I bet Forest Edge will disappear after the first year or so.

If I had paid $2000 extra for FE, I’d go/want wood every time. If I were BM, I’d be less concerned.

I kind of agree on this...

They look amazing. Honestly, when I first sat in a Rivian, it was one of the few details I noticed that really stood out. I remember being impressed that they went so far as to have wood detail in a an otherwise obscure spot.

Remember, this is a 100K vehicle and should be competing with European luxury brands.

Assuming Rivian won't be supplying them on new orders anymore, I wonder if the service centers can source them?

I really hope that there isn't more wood stripping for FE! I agree, I am paying extra for FE and to have this taken out seems like a real cheapening of the vehicle. Im not slated until Oct-Dec 23 delivery, so who knows what else will be cut!! It does seem trivial, but it is the details that make the vehicle!!

I wish people would get temporary bans every time they suggest this crap. It's just wrong.

"hurr durr don't like it go cancel hurrr duurrrrrr"

Good thing you live in a country where freedom of speech is a thing.

Keep on wishing...

This is a $67k vehicle for me. It’s certainly nice and pretty capable but I wouldn’t pay anywhere near $100k for one.
How's it a 67k vehicle? Even legacy base price is above that.

I'm just saying any future buyers are shopping this against other 100k vehicles and those get pretty nice

$74,800 out the door and a $7500 tax rebate coming up this spring.
This is one of the only reasons I bought it. After my Model 3 Performance lease came up, with the R1T price being slightly lower than the Y and not much more than another Model 3 Performance, it seemed like a much better value.
