I heard Rivian is developing their own integrated bi directional charger. Any word on this?

We are specing a solar array with battery storage using Enphase micro inverters and IQ Battery BU. Enphase has announced a V2H bi-directional charger coming out in the 3rd quarter of 2025. Has anyone installed a solar system that will be compatible with the Enphase Bi-directional charger?

This is a repeat of an earlier link:
Enphase Bi-directional EV Charger
I have, all Enphase equipment.

12KW in panels, IQ8's across all panels, a new 200/220 panel, and the sunlight backup opition, all installed last year. We can run our entire house and AC while the sun's out with ease (no batteries needed). The only thing we didn't backup is the 50A induction stove.

I had the electricians also install a Nema 14-50 socket with 6AWG on a 25 foot run. This should be good for 80-100A and more than enough for V2x.

Now we're waiting for Enphase or whoever to release their bi-directional unit.

I refused to spend $10k+ for 5KWh of batteries when V2x is such a better option.

Unless I'm misunderstanding what you're saying, 6AWG is not good for 80A. If it's 6AWG romex then it's good for 55A(derated to 44A for a continuous load following 80% rule), slightly more if it's THHN.

Rivian bidirectional charger is a myth, it’s a marketing scam to trick more people into buying a Rivian with hopes of relief from buying power walls. I think they have no intention of developing the charger and never did intend to. Ford has had it available for a long time and let me tell you Ford is on the bottom of the technology curve.
my opinion only

I will buy the H2V charger as soon as it is available. I will move our existing Rivian charger to our other garage for the RX3 (maybe R2) when they are available.

My next EV will have V2H. Hopefully that's Rivian but time will tell.

Agree 100% - why I need to buy expensive batteries for backup (maybe for 1-2 days a year) and not just use my already bought expensive battery in the car!?

Rivian promised a lot...

They didn’t promise anything. The said it’s coming. That’s not a promise or guarantee.
