I don't know about you all, but the front trunk lighting only works well when it's empty. Once you put stuff in there, it's hard to see at night since the items are essentially blocking the lights. To remedy, I installed two of these. They're USB rechargeable, magnetic, offer warm or white lighting while being motion and photosensitive. This means they're off unless I open the hood at night. Since they're held by magnets, I could conceivably remove them for use at campsites, tailgate events, etc. Build quality is pretty good. I was expecting something cheaper a la typical Chinese manufacturing, but these are well-made. They feel solid.

One note: the frunk liner seems to be made of UMHW or similar (it's slick) so we'll see how long the sticker magnets hold.

I know someone on here did something similar, but I can't find the post anymore. If that was you, thanks for the inspiration. Hope this helps someone.

Great find and thanks for sharing. Definitely let us know how you think they’re working, especially wrt to battery light and the auto on/off.

here's my frunk lighting solution. Ended up buying a trigger 4plus for an install of extra foglights but was left with 3 spare switches. Felt like i needed to find a use use the other switches so ended up buying some strip LEDs from amazon and voila! still have 2 spare switches so i may tackle installing rocklights, ditchlights, or maybe some camp lights....still TBD.

Thanks for sharing. Do they move around or fall off if you hit bumps as you drive around?

If they are motion sensitive, won’t they turn on and discharge their battery while you’re driving?

I have a few of those same lights, in a cabinet, a small closet and a bulkhead stairway. Unfortunately I’ve found the magnet isn’t as strong as I’d like - sometimes they fall off the clip. But if they do, they’re just dropping onto the frunk tub or whatever is in it so no big deal.

I don’t think they would be triggered by motion in the frunk unless you had a ball or something rolling around as you drive.

Thank you for these frunk lighting tips. This Forum in great. It fills the gaps that Rivian has left.

Not yet, but I'm thinking it'll eventually be an issue. The frunk liner is pretty slick, so unsure how long the adhesive securing the mating magnet will hold.

It detects movement around the light (i.e. walking past it, waving your hand around the sensor, the hood opening, etc), not the vehicle moving through space.

We have a few of these in our clothes drawers. They are very sensitive to detecting movement so anything that may move/shift in the frunk while driving, even slightly, will likely trigger the lights. You may end up charging them more often than you're expecting.

How did you power them?

the trigger 4plus is wired to the 12v battery so that's what powers the foglights and the LEDs. There's also an "activiation" wire that i wired into the stock frunk 12v plug outlet, so when the vehicle goes to sleep the trigger 4plus unit knows to shut off and not draw power from the 12v.
