I have a good connection between the Tesla tap mini 80 and the Tesla destination charger. I waited 40 seconds then plugged it into my charge port on my R1S. The charge screen just sits there and reads, "Starting", but nothing ever happens. I tried 3 times and nada. Suggestions?

Bummer. I got a Tesla Tap Mini 80 about a month ago, and have used it on my ten year old 80A Tesla Wall Connector, pulling 48A, and on a 2nd Generation Tesla Mobile Connector from my Model Y, pulling 32A. Both connected and charged first try on multiple occasions. Like you, I always wait 30 seconds or so after connecting the Tesla Tap before plugging into the car.

One thought - make sure the Tesla Tap is fully snapped onto the Tesla charging cable until it clicks.

Where are you charging? Some of the Tesla destination chargers are on 277V, which generally won't work with J1772 vehicles since it's out of spec.

Mine Tesla Tap has worked flawlessly both times I’ve used it too. Maybe it’s an issue with the charger?

When setting up the destination charger there is probably an option to only charge Teslas. If the person that set it up chose that option there isn’t anything you can do. Funny thing is that when you buy the Tesla J1772 charger and set it up the option to only charge teslas is still there.

Okay, mayber that's it. I've never heard the adapter "click" into the charge cable. Maybe I need to really push. Has your's been hard to attach?

Not particularly hard, but I did notice it took more force to get it to click on the Tesla mobile charger I used for the first time the other day. There is a release button for it, that’s not as noticeable as the main release.
