Thought I would share. Received my Lectron NACS to CCS adapter on last week. Tried it out yesterday. It has the F###'D up latch pin. I am so pissed. You would think they would have some sort of quality check for this very basic thing. Also, kicking myself because I had an A2Z adapter ordered as well that I canceled when this piece of junk arrived. I was at the end of my ship window on it so it might have arrived now or next week. Contacted Lectron. They asked me to send a video so they could confirm if it was repairable (??) or needed to be replaced. I sent them the Safety alert video on YouTube. I'll update when I hear a response.

IF you are thinking of purchasing an adapter get an A2Z.

With all of this I did get an email from Rivian to confirm my address yesterday for shipment of my Rivian adapter. SO... I should be getting that one very soon. Vin < xx200.

Yeah, Rivian’s are made by Tesla…same ones that are being sent to ford, and basically the same thing that is on the Magic Docks.

A2Z and Lectron are 3rd party adapters. Rivian and Tesla have said don’t use them, but most of us have followed along with A2Z at least, and trust their process. They have been on here for a while explaining things. They’re working with some OEM’s right now, but are under an NDA. Also, as soon as UL approval comes, Rivian and Tesla should approve these.
I just got my A2Z and it might be made physically in China but by no means is this some sort of cheap knock off. Extremely well made and there is no way the Tesla/Rivian official one will be any better quality. Headed on my first road trip that Id probably wouldn't take if I couldn't charge at the Tesla SC this weekend.

Frustrating to see this, especially coming from a company like Lectron. Apparently, they even delete bad reviews, which raises many questions.

As another data point, I ordered mine on 3/19 and it is scheduled to arrive this Friday, 4/26.
Arrived today! Looks legit, but will need to test. Still confused as to why no YouTubers have teared down these things and compared them?

@A2ZEV et al, I finally got around to testing the A2Z adapter. Worked great. Plugged in at about 49% SOC on my R1T. Top charging power I saw was 205 kW (see attached photo). However...

As others have noted, getting the Tesla plug securely inserted into the adapter takes a non-trivial amount of force. Also, the lock switch does NOT have a sharp, satisfying feel indicating when things are locked. I needed to test the locked state (by trying to pull Tesla plug out) several times before I finally got things locked. I doubt most folks will be as patient as I was, so I expect many will assume either the charger or adapter is not working.

The next time I charge, I may try some dielectric grease to see if that reduces friction and makes it easier to insert the Tesla plug into the adapter. ??‍♂

Many including me had that "non click" stiff lock feel. I even used a screwdrive to pry the lock my dirst use.

Then after a bit of use, it started to have the descrete feel when it is locked and unlocked. Keep using it and it'll get "broken in"

Ditto this - after a few sessions the handle will insert easier and you can tell it fully locks.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on May 1st issued a safety recall for up to 1,624 NACS adapters sold by Lectron.

https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls?nhtsaId=24E033

From the recall letter, Dropcases Limited/Lectron will replace the adapter, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed May 3, 2024. Owners may contact Dropcases Limited customer service by email at [email protected]. Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.

It's concerning that there is nothing on Lectron's web site mentioning the issue...

Received a statement from Lectron and they’re sending me a new one to test (will update y’all once I have it): “After conducting a root cause analysis, we identified a logistics error that resulted in a limited number of early versions of our adapter leaving our distribution partner. These early units, intended for testing purposes only, were subsequently intermingled with mass-production units. This issue has been rectified, and we are replacing all affected adapters.”

Ah yes, apparently Lectron sent out a few out of 1624 units only meant for testing (why would they ever even have the possibility of putting the latch backwards?) . They really should be serialized so they could have reduced the consequence of this significantly.

70% is a bit more than a few
It sounds like they don't have traceability on the problem, so just have to request all of them back. I don't think recalls allow the end-user to identify if their product is actually affected or not to satisfy the recall.

In other news, the official adapter is $25 from GM.

I don't understand why anyone would pay more money for Lectron Vortex adapter and take on the risk of safety defects.

I would order an A2Z adapter using the "RIV" discount code to get it for $177 shipped and then call A2Z to upgrade to $15 overnight expedited shipping.

It still takes 3 weeks for your order to ship out and then after that you will get it next day with UPS Overnight.

They are extremely responsive and will be able to give you an idea when your adapter should arrive.

Maybe ask them what options you have available to expedite delivery.

Call A2Z:
