Wet spot under driver mat

One year later and I’m on my way to the SC to pick up the car after our second wet carpet issue. Same as last time - they claimed it was coming from the HVAC and re-sealed it (??? I’m gonna need more technical info than that….).

Yippie. I didn’t drive my car for 2 days. Opened the door and it smelled like death. Tracked it to a wet passenger side carpet… looks like the same issue. R1S quad 2023

Add our R1S to the list -- 2023 Dual Motor. I don't think ours was one of the recalled ones or anything either.

Makes me wonder if it's just a matter of time for all of them.

Sigh. Was thrilled to get an appointment within a week but now the car is just sitting there because the HVAC assembly is apparently on national backorder (or at least that's what I'm told).

Least I finally got a loaner this time...which failed to unlock or respond to the fob and required a call for them to send an unlock command to get back into it...yay.

Just made an appointment for my fourth time for this repair. I have a 22 with 70,000 miles on it, out of warranty, let's see what they cover. Any advice on what to do?

Get service call opened while warranty is still live, as long as it is reported within the warranty you are good.

FFS. Not even two weeks after getting it back for the repair the first time the smell is back and the carpet is wet again.

Oh and technically this will be it's third visit inside of two weeks. After the first repair was "complete" I got in, put it in gear, and got an airbag malfunction warning on the dash. So back into service again.

I think I added up over 50 days in service at this point. This isn't fun anymore.

Trust me I know what you mean. I don’t care what industry you are in all it takes is communication and it’s free dosnt cost a darn thing . Good news or bad news a simple email or call just saying. We are working on the issue or this and that would bring down any temperature. The number one business tool and being free is Communication!!!!!!!
I am a mortgage loan officer and I never have any complaints and tgat is because I communicate.

Just had this happen for the third time for my R1T. I just got the truck back from the last "fix" 20 days ago. Assuming this takes a couple of weeks to diagnose and fix (considering the part shortages), it'll have been in service for almost two months in 2025 alone.

I think if this happens again, the first team at Rivian I'll be reaching out to is the legal team...

That's fucking annoying. I'd be getting a little frustrated too with the repeated "fix" of the same issue.

Don't take this the wrong way, I'm just genuinely curious if it's something that can be attributed to a specific underlying cause or environmental condition related.

- How do you use your Rivian? ex. Hwy commuter, farm hauler, weekend off road warrior, or just store and back?
- Do you use air fresheners in the vehicle of any kind?
- What types of cleaners do you use on your interior? (reason I ask is this was something someone mentioned as being a possible cause for the drain clogging)
- When was your R1 manufactured?

I have a January '23 R1T, that hasn't had this issue at all, I commute about 15 minutes in the city each way to work, take it down dusty and muddy FSR's most weekends, don't use any air fresheners, clean typically with Geyon Interior Spray once every month or so, and vacuum the dust.

So just trying to narrow the field a bit as to the commonality between vehicles that have it and the ones that don't seem to..

After decades of always having a VAG car with a sunroof in the driveway I thought water leaks were gone from my life after buying Rivian. It’s disappointing to read this thread.
