What fast chargers are plug and charge?

I am wondering what fast chargers are plug and charge? Meaning no need to open the app to start charging.

That is not correct. You must initiate charging at Tesla via the Tesla app (unless you are charging a Tesla)…

@RivAW I have plug and charged at Tesla Superchargers. It billed to the credit card on my Rivian account. I am under the impression that if you have a discount plan with Tesla one needs to authorize it on their Tesla app before plugging in to get the discount billed through Tesla.

This is correct. You can plug and charge your RIvian at a Tesla SC if your RIvian account has payment info.

if you have the monthly subscription with Tesla, you must initiate from the app instead.

EVgo has a thing called Autocharge. You have to enroll your car, but once done, you do just plug in and it goes.

Rivian, Tesla, EVGo has auto charge which is similar but needs setup.

I thought chargepoint did plug and charge.. if not, why does rivian need a chargepoint account linked? I haven't charged at a chargepoint DCFC yet so can't confirm or deny.

Wrong. Tesla Supercharger is plug and charge, unless you have Supercharger membership. Then you must initiate through Tesla app in order to enjoy lower price. If you just plug it in, you default to plug and charge and higher price. At no point you are asked by Tesla to provide VIN. So unless you initiate through their app before plugging in, no way for that network to know you have membership.

EVgo has a thing called Autocharge. You have to enroll your car, but once done, you do just plug in and it goes.

Rivian "Plug and Charge" where you enter the billing information in the Rivian app, and all payment is handled through Rivian:

• Rivian Adventure Network
• Tesla Supercharger

Networks you can set up billing in the network's app, and activate a similar system, but billing happens through the network, not through Rivian:

• EVgo (Which they call "autocharge+" and I have security concerns about this method.)

All other networks require some other effort to start charging other than just plugging in. (Including ChargePoint, which does support billing through Rivian, but you have to activate each session in the Rivian app instead of the ChargePoint app.)

THAT is not correct. Tesla Superchargers support plug-and-charge to Rivian vehicles either via the NACS adapter or on Magic Dock equipped, as long as you have payment set up in the Rivian app.

You just don't get the lower membership price.

Same with Electrify America on Plug-and-Charge vehicles - (which does *NOT* include Rivian) - you don't get the membership discount via Plug-and-Charge.
