Don’t worry, I imagine they’ll have it solved long before 2024.Once I get my all weather mats, this would definitely become a mold problem.
If you have an attentive guide, text them and tell them to have the service manager call you. Then you don’t have to deal with the whole “pass the phone to whoever”. It worked for me during my ordeal in April. Of course they are busier now so may not be as accommodating.Whelp, today I called into service and requested to have ATL call me with an update after hearing nothing for another day. No call...disappointed in the lack of information once again.
The inability to be able to reach the team who is working on your Rivian is purely frustrating.
Based on your description and my experience, it appears there are numerous water issues affecting the carpets. My water incidents were taking place on days with no rain, just sunny and lots of AC in use for southern humid summer days!I brought my R1T into service for this and other issues last Thursday 09/08 and have not heard anything. Between the time I noticed the dampness/wet problem and when I brought it in for service, I tried to monitor when the problem occurred and gather any other details I could.
It seems to be from rain water on the windshield when the car is not being driven that runs down into the plastic lining and is supposed to be routed to the middle on the back side of the frunk and drain through slots. The plastic is really shallow and I believe the problem is the rain is washing over the front of the plastic. it seems to then be coming through the foot plate on the left and causing the driver side rug to get damp or wet. Why it doesn't happen on both sides of the car is not clear to me as the plastic drainage piece right below the windshield is the same on both sides.
On one day it was pouring and I had the car out in the weather but I was driving it most of the time and the problem wasn't nearly as bad. Hardly noticeable. I am thinking its because I was using the wipers.
The next day was lighter rain and I left it out for hours sitting at my friends house and the rug was noticeably wet. It didn't seem to be caused by air conditioner condensation as originally thought. It could also be related to the direction of rain. Who knows.
I asked the service advisor at the Brooklyn service center how we are going to avoid mold. He said the carpet is designed to get wet. I told him I thought the insulation underneath was getting drenched and he intimated if thats the case, that would be replaced.
Also getting the front window weatherstripping on both doors redone, hopefully they fix the suspension creak, asked them to see if they could salvage the Tonneau functionality for now while waiting for the hopefully more permanent fix + some other even more minor things.
These relatively minor problems are frustrating me way more than I thought because the service experience is so bad. I really believe Rivian needs to fast track getting 3rd party service stations certified so people don't have to make inconvenient trips to get their 100K truck fixed. its especially frustrating because they aren't always able to fix the issues on the first try. Stepping off soap box.
Got it. the other thing I forgot to mention is the truck is retaining tangible water. I hear it sloshing around days after a rain on both sides of the truck so even when its sunny, when you drive it, it could cause the carpets to get wet again. Or so it seems like that. It also is to the point where I could be imagining things. Hopefully they can figure it out.Based on your description and my experience, it appears there are numerous water issues affecting the carpets. ...agree 100% the service experience is very painful!
I had that with my Mazda3, the door drains got clogged in my many years of ownership. They are accessible on the bottom of the door typically; have plastic clips on/in them. If my R1T wasn't at the service center I would check what that looks like on the truck doors. The other detail I for

Edit:
This could be my sloshing problem....
A buddy over at Rivian Automotive Fans Facebook page posted his repair process for the known issue you're having. No update Tuesday, which was when on the last update they expressed the truck work would be completed.
I call Rivian5 this morning for an update, he speaks to someone in ATL and they say the refrigerant has been evacuated from the system so they will have to charge it and there was one other thing that I didnt catch that had to be done as well, they expected it to be done by the end of the week.
At this point, it seems apparent they have not been telling me all the information and have been setting false expectations with me when the work would be done on the truck, only to get my update today that included "by the end of the week".
Needless to say, I requested a callback from the ATL service manager so I can actually find out from someone that hopefully knows the full scope of what they are doing, what a true expectation can be, mindful to the fact that I am leaving town this weekend for a week...they had assured me the truck would be back without any issue prior to my trip.
Also asked for the service team lead to get involved from Rivian5; and he said he was going to escalate the situation over to immediate needs as well.
All I want is good information, and to know what is really going on with the truck. At this point there seems to be the question of what work is actually being completed and how much is left to do since they stated they simply needed HVAC tape to finish and be done same day...clearly that was misleading.
All of this frustration could have easily been avoided if they would provide valuable and informative details to the vehicle owner.
Yeah I saw John Doe pics on the Fb group, saw his pics the night before I scheduled the appointment. Rivian5 wanted me to drive and wait for the truck work to be done same day. I saw Doe pics and said hail no I am not waiting, no way it's done same day.A buddy over at Rivian Automotive Fans Facebook page posted his repair process for the known issue you're having.
