We do have glass coverage, but at least for this policy, it counts as a collision claim. If I add in the spoiler, then they want to send an assessor, who would almost certainly (and correctly) reject that part of the claim. It would impact our future coverage rates (according to the agent I spoke to), and since our 20yr old just got a speeding ticket, we're already looking at a price hike, I'd rather not make it worse.$3,700 to replace, $1,000 deductible, means they would cover $2,700 of it? Seems worth it to me. That's what we have insurance for.
Some insurance companies have separate windshield coverage as well. Not sure the roof would fall into that category. But, for windshields, usually the deductible doesn't apply if you have the glass coverage on your policy.
Can't hurt to ask your agent what's covered and what's not and see if there are any repercussions from making a claim. Might not fall into a collision category. Would at least ask questions. Obviously entirely up to you
