Took my R1S into the SC a couple of weeks ago to fix a list of “small” (but annoying) issues. Three of the key ones that I’ve seen multiple times on this forum were fixed (hallelujah!), so I thought I’d include the root causes that were found in case others are experiencing the same problems:

1) Sporadic rattling noise from the grille over the front dash behind the windshield

Cause from SC:
- Verified rattle from front speaker grill. Inspection found HVAC duct is missing. Installed duct under dash speaker grill and retestto verify repair, no rattle heard after repair

Correction/Remedy:
- Duct, HVAC, Instrument Panel, Defrost (Remove and Replace) - Noise Vibration and Harshness General Diagnostic

2) Vehicle seems to pull to the right regardless of road crown or surface irregularities.

Cause from SC:
- Verified steering wheel is off center. Performed 4 wheel alignment and road test to verify repairs, all ok. Steering wheel is now centered while driving.

Correction/Remedy:
- Alignment, Four Wheel, Check and Adjust

3) Some high-frequency buzzing/creaking sporadically experienced from rear interior of vehicle

Cause
- Verified rattle from passenger side underbody. Located right side HV battery panel is loose. Removed panel and added double sided tape to inner panel edge and reinstalled. Road test and verified rattle is no longer present.

Correction/Remedy:
- Panel, Underbody, HV Battery, Side, RH (Remove and Replace) - Noise Vibration and Harshness General Diagnostic

Hope this potentially helps others who may be experiencing similar symptoms. The only thing they couldn’t fix (or didn’t try) was the wind noise issue coming from the driver’s side front window. They said, “only normal wind noise is noted”. The SC agent said it’s similar to their test vehicles at the SC. I’m okay in the end if it’s within spec, but it’s definitely more than any other vehicle I’ve previously owned.

Cross posting here, but wondering if I have the same dashboard rattle. Mine is definitely an interior issue, and potentially nit picky...but after all, it is a expensive/luxury purchase.

Has anyone noticed a rattle/vibration from dead center at bottom dashboard near windshield? Purely an interior/cabin sound issue, like plastic hitting/rattling or lacking foam/cushion/glue. As if the leather dash board isn't secured tightly.

I drive on washboard beach roads, so I know these rattles, but not usually on a brand new tight vehicle. Worth asking service? Feels like tan odd sound for sub 5K miles.

Exactly how I’d have described my rattle noise. Yes, it was minor and livable, but I figured I’d include it since I had more serious issues and was bringing it in anyhow. The missing “HVAC duct” admittedly caught me off guard a bit. Didn’t even notice any issues with the HVAC… I suppose sometimes these “minor” issues turn out to be something legit after all.

One extra thing to note: I was sincerely impressed with how thorough the Phoenix SC was. And “Jacob” provided updates regularly via text and real-time assistance/responses. Shout-out to the Phoenix SC and Jacob for the level of customer service! While I noted mentally that they didn’t touch it for 2 weeks (at least, I assume via the app. It was also quarter end and they were probably focused on churning out delivery inspections) and then fixed everything in 36 hours, they provided a nice rental (Yukon SLT) and were very communicative the entire time.

Huh... a missing duct? I wonder if there's any reliable way for us to check for THAT on our own.

YES, I have a similar rattle and I'm less than 1k miles. Mine seems to be directly behind the center screen. I'm compiling a list of minor things before I bring it in. My window wind noise is quiet, but my friends R1S had to have its window stripping replaced as his was very loud.

Might explain why some people say the AC is weak and loud - and others say it's great
Yeah, that would definitely have an impact! From the service report, it looks like it's the defrost vents that were affected. I guess I'll go test my defrost this evening . . .

Borescope through the dashboard vents, maybe?

I would have no idea what I'm looking for, but that's the idea that jumps out at me. ?

I thought some folks have gotten that fixed? I never had any notable wind noise on my truck in the beginning, but started getting it at least on the driver side recently. When I pressed on the glass where the black strip is between the main window and the triangle window the wind noise stopped. There's definitely an air leak and the black strip is loose. I haven't submitted a ticket yet, but I really hope they fix mine.

I feel like the airflow is pretty weak with the fans set to max. You can hear air blowing really loud under the front speaker grill but not much air is coming out. Wonder how common this issue is.

The wife has a dash rattle that is clearly the perforated cover across dash not properly secured. Ticket and service scheduled.

I have the under body rattle but mine is more pronounced on the driver side. I can physically hit both sides and more rattle on driver vs passenger. I am going to assume its the same thing as yours, just opposite sides.

This is a great post and very helpful. It should be a sticky. Perhaps others can offer similar experiences and then there would be consistency in the fixes. While this particular SC sounds like they know what they are doing, I've read others that are very different.

Glad SC was able to fix everything, rather than the dreaded "cannot replicate". But, oof, if they'd just pay a little more attention at the factory... instead of leaving it up to the overwhelmed SCs for "final" assembly.
