I just made the 70 mile trip to work and everything went fine. As all have said, speedometer and battery percentage are working fine along with alerts and lights. I spoke with Rivian service around 7:30 am and he said it is completely OK to drive and they are working on getting rental cars for the few folks who don’t have an active speedometer. He also mentioned that they were trying to get an OTA to fix the issue and if that wasn’t possible the mobile service team should be able to do the physical update.

Had the same issue happen to mine last night. No screens, no backup cam. Just speedo and PRND with lights and wipers on steering wheel screen. driveable as I got to work and hopefully will get back home. I'm following to see if a fix comes out. The real issue is going to be wether it needs to go to SC for a fix. The downside so far of Rivian has been the lack of SC availability and distance. State of CT has corrupt dealerships preventing them from opening here.

Just throwing this out as a possible mea culpa by Rivian: to those affected by this, I think Rivian should offer $X amount of free RAN lifetime credits. Maybe $500 or something…

I can't say that the thought of some compensation didn't cross my mind. Mine has the same error of course. I'm waiting for the chat just a document that I'm one of them although I'm sure they can tell.

For all the people that are outraged by this I say GTFO. I'm not happy with it myself but I have been burned way worse by most legacy automakers. It's okay to be disappointed even a little bit mad, but the vehicles technically function as a vehicle so nobody is actually stranded. It is a serious issue and I'm sure that they will learn from this.

Everyone that is preparing to burn their key fobs on video for YouTube...well... Maybe this isn't the vehicle for you. I'm not saying I don't want it right and what it fixed but losing your mind does nothing but to raise your own blood pressure and not solve the problem

Maybe it's time to reassess what is and is not important in life.

seems like some have more preserved function than others. I don't have battery showing nor the backup cam but speedo works and can drive.

Mine appears drivable (goes in to gear) but the center screen oscillates between black and the rivian logo. Here’s to hoping we don’t ‘require physical repair’. ?

Same here. opened a ticket this morning. No infotainment but the car is working. Now the wait begins!! Sigh

Yeah this is important. I open the ticket as well. I was just very polite got on the chat told them that I know they're working the issue but I'm one of the affected and wanted to let them know so I can get on whatever list. They thanked me an apologized and said that they logged my VIN.

I'm sure they'll be able to tell who has and has not been affected but it doesn't hurt to have it documented and if there ever was any sort of compensation you probably be on the list for that then.

While the R1S is drivable, not having HVAC control with my wife, < 6 month old baby, and dog in the car is a no go.

I was able to start the climate system from my phone app, in case that works for you too, and is helpful.

Did they send out a customer wide email to explain what is going on?

On the bright side, this was a big enough issue that there will likely be some significant changes to how the company releases updates. Better now than at 100k or more vehicles.

Thanks! Definitely helpful. Be nice if we could adjust temp via the app while driving (vs. just in park) and turn on the 3rd row fans for the dog, but this definitely works temporarily.

How do you know if the info screen is the only thing at fault for sure ? this vehicle is controlled 100% by a computer and right now the computer is partially faulty thanks to a company that doesnt have a proper proccess to handle the computer updates. You drive it. I will no. let see hiw much time it will take them to fix this. What an embarrassment of a company I will never get tired to tell everyone about that

I sold it within 6 months. I didn't piss and moan about it on the inter webs, I just went to another dealer and traded it in. Even that dealer didn't need to hear about how much I hated that car, they didn't care.

Anyone who has had the problem with the update, what does your app show? Are you able still get status of the vehicle? What does it say under vehicle update? Trying to figure out if there is any sort of indication from the app that something isn’t right.

Shows the update failed. Able to drive and just confirmed that phone as a key is working. Just no UI in the center screen in the car.

Agreed. I couldn’t imagine going through life in such a miserable way. He hates his car, hates the company, is embarrassed to own it, hates the service center, wants to short the stock, etc.

Move on with your life.
