That is the pricy one, and the best one. It is over-built for the Rivian, but that is not a bad thing.
?
Thank you! Yes, I see that the one I linked can handle the rare Tesla HPWC (80amp). Was thinking might as well be safe as I have encountered some over the years at hotels and the like (without having to worry about manually reducing amp).

The Rivian would never pull more than 48 amps, even if the HPWC can supply 80A.

Just ordered my first R1S now that Rivian has access to NACS (coming from previous Tesla S & Y). Could I also use this adapter with my current garage Tesla wall charger or a Tesla destination charger (at a hotel)?
No the adapter Rivian is supplying is for Superchargers Only! Nacs to CCS1 which has DC Pins
For Home and Destination Tesla chargers your need a Nacs to J1772 adapter which does not have the 2 large DC Pins.

Ahhhh, I see, thank you for noting this. I was thinking of the early days with some early Model S that could (if ordered with dual onboard chargers), but you're right w/o that odd configuration no other Tesla can handle that much either.

It's exciting re-learning all of the charging details again. Thanks for saving me some $$!

If you will only use it with the RIvian, it is only capable of "pulling" 48a... regardless of what the EVSE can output. thus, you can buy the 48a version safely. If you ever plan on trading for a vehicle that can pull more, like the Lightning or the Silverado, then yeah, future-proof yourself by getting the big one.

I'm just glad Rivian started getting more aggressive about port temperatures after a lot of the early stories from people that melted the ports in their vehicles while L2 charging. Presumably even if the sensor in an adapter goes bad or doesn't trigger when it should, both Tesla and Rivian should be aggressive enough in their thermal response to prevent any real damage.

But, I also don't like when people use the wrong type of container to put gasoline in.
Well, plastic shopping bags are made of the same material as real gas cans.

I had a "feeling" the tesla chargers would be enabled soon, so i ordered one on 3/.15... glad i made the right choice.

Hopefully they ship sooner than the Rivian/Tesla adapters!
Yeah. I can neither confirm nor deny that I may have ordered one when they were released.

Many on the forum were/are suggesting that radicals who ordered such sacrilegious devices should be hunted down and spoken harshly to.

Hence I am reluctant to expose myself as one of those reckless heretics.

I mean... we've clearly been warned. As a long-time EV owner, third party adapters have a bad reputation. These Chinese adapters are going to get someone in the news, and not in a good way.

Yes it's been posted here countless times over the last 2 days. And how do you know they are Chinese?

Don't get me wrong, i would rather use the free tesla branded adapter, but i have to drive from Raleigh to Boston sometime this summer and i was dreading the EA/EVGO/Electrify fight... I have 0 confidence Rivian will get me an adapter this year.

For the low low price of $167 its now just 3 tesla stations and two RAN stations for 15-30 mins each and boom I'm there. It really is a game changer.
