Having three wheel sizes was a complete waste of production efficiency especially considering the goofy wheel size. The 21" was a poor business decision.
Couldn't they have gone with one of the other 21" sizes that are more readily available too? Seems like they got a good balance for efficiency with the 21" though, so maybe not that much of a waste

My question is how long is the "early adopter" period for the refresh vehicles? I don't believe the pre-refresh ever got past it, so does it restart now with the refresh and the extensive changes being predicted? Basically does this refresh put things back to the "never buy a first year of a new model of a vehicle" status?

Only if you are a person that believes in “never buy a first year of a new model “. I don’t think it will matter much.

Only a concern of mine surrounding early failure of new electrical modules, or related software issues that haven't been fully worked out yet. Won't stop me from buying a post-refresh vehicle as soon as I can if the upgrades overall are worthwhile. But the capability of the in-house quad is still an unknown.

I'm still on team 800v, but it will be an upsell for more $$$ trims.
800V is not going to happen.

There is hope for better battery thermal management since they have reconfigured the HVAC. This would allow for a more favorable charging curve that convey some of the same benefits as an 800V system.

So does this mean that the refresh models will be 2025 model year? It would make it kind of confusing if there were 2024 “pre-refresh” and 2024 “post-refresh” models in the shop at the same time.

Agree. That's the one regret I have with my R1T. Wish I would have went with the 20" wheels and then gone to AS after the AT wore out.
This is the only reason I had them swap out the 21s for 20s. 1 OEM tire option and if you need to replace it, good luck waiting while they source the tire from a distribution center. I will be swapping them as soon as they become unbearable to listen to or they wear out irregularly fast.

All pre-order holders needed to take delivery by September, SO I assume that after that is when these will start production. I have no regret getting a standard+ Pack without the heat-pump.

Surprised that CCS1 port is still used instead of NACS. The updated vehicle must be 2025 model year and they dont have NACS worked out for in-vehicle install at this time.

The most interesting is the elimination of 21" wheel. Pirelli made special tire for Rivian. Now not being used. Must have finished the contractual obligation.

Of course this means 275/55/21 tire size is orphaned and without a real alternatives since going forward it will not be equipped by Rivian. No other tire maker will make this size for such a small user-base.

Luckily I have the 22" so maybe theres's a hope for more tire options.
Other car companies are using 21” wheels. The 20” size mentioned is the same diameter as the 21” tire, which I already did with my aftermarket 20”.

If you own a Dual Perf Max Pack - at what point beyond the heat pump will an upgrade to the newest R1T make undeniable sense due to feature superiority?

Well damn. Those are impressive range numbers for Standard pack. Makes my "Large" pack feel inadequate.

It would not surprise me if Rivian decides to can quad motor and make tri-enduro the cream of the crop, as planned for R2 and R3. Makes best sense for manufacturing efficiency. Plus, if singular third motor was coupled with a locking differential...

This is a great thought and question. As of right now and even with the refresh, a current Dual Performance w/ Max Pack is arguably the most ideal config. It's a very hard config to top given the range.

The only realistic scenario where I see a situation, where it would make undeniable sense are for those who actually travel a lot in colder climates needing a heat pump.

There is one that is a direct match but doesn't seem to be available yet.

Apparently a member in here said that he could order that Michelin Defender 275/55/21 already. It supposed to be out late June or Early July.
