The Rivian towing specs specifically say you need to have a weight distribution/stabilizer to achieve those numbers.
Ermm ...what numbers? I didn't mention any. Sorry for the confusion

Large Charge Marge (DM max pack) hauls a 5'x9' Hiker Trailer, which has a whopping 5'x7' sleeping area inside. :D

Slap a tandem 17.5' Delta Traverse sea kayak on top of the little camper (beside the batwing awning), and throw two bikes on the back for good measure. (NOTE: We switched to sticking the bikes above the truck bed on Kuat racks since the first photo was taken...see the last photo.)

My bad. The towing specs numbers.

"Limitations to this vary based on the type of hitch used. A weight distributing hitch is required to tow these weights. Without a weight distributing hitch, the towing limit for R1T and R1S is 5,000 lb (2267 kg)."

They have a distributor in Durango, Colorado, Four Corners RV. When we were looking they said they had some coming in in about 6 months but if we wanted to customize it was about a year.
And when I was looking in 2022, the wait was at least two years for new. Wife and I were itching to get into something much sooner, and a local dealer showed us the inTechs when we had come in to look at the T@Bs. Salesperson saw how tall I was and knew I wouldn't fit comfortably in the nuCamp rigs.

We tow a 27' Sonic, about 5500 lbs. fully loaded. After three trips avg 1.3-1.4 kwh. I love the way it tows, better than any previous vehicles we've used. No surprise, wind is the biggest range killer! I'd like more range, but our charging stops have been enjoyably breaks!

Just wanted to share our set up. It’s not used much at all like this, but it makes for a great alternative to the typical travel trailer.

It doesn’t help that the rig is 4500lb and a high top, but the amenities are great, and a second vehicle when out in the boonies is comforting.

It’s neat to travel together in the truck, then break off on the last leg to get the most distance to a campsite.

Efficiency for the G1Q was about 1.2 on highways.

If I didn’t have such a long term attachment to it, I’d opt for a lighter, slimmer, shorter bay window westy.

They really didn't know what their market was with the original and they priced it way too high, these second gens are better done, very nice. Would be cool if they did an EV refresh!
They did, actually! Very recently, they announced a kind-of-electrified refresh: the Basecamp 20xe.

https://www.airstream.com/travel-trailers/basecamp-xe/floorplans/20xe/

It has a large battery (10 kWh), more solar, inverter, induction burner, and the appliances can run in electric mode, with one propane tank as a fallback.

It's not motorized like the Lightship or the Pebble, but it's also not as large or expensive as those.

We traded in our Ram EcoDiesel to tow our 27’ Flying Cloud with a DM R1T Max and haven’t ever looked back. It’s so much nicer towing with the R1T.

Love your setup! Our Airstream is a 28RBT and we just replaced our GMC 2500HD tow vehicle with an R1T Tri Max. It looks like you're traveling with eBikes? I'm struggling to find a transport solution for our two Aventon Aventure.2 bikes, 77 lbs each with battery and 67 lbs without. With wheels intact, they're too long for the truck bed. What type of rack are you using? I appreciate any suggestions you may have. Thanks much and safe travels! Rob Campbell

I like your setup as well. Actually, I originally traded my Ram 1500 EcoDiesel for the R1T w/QM and LargePack and then a year later traded that in for the R1T w/DM and MaxPack. I don’t miss the extra power and the extra mileage was worth the trade.

We have 2 Gazelle ebikes which weigh 62lbs sans battery and front wheel. I have the Rivian crossbars and added a pair of Yakima HIgh Speed’s that fit nicely over the bed with the front wheels removed. That leaves the entire bed available for storage and I can still close the tonneau cover. At 62lbs I’m just able to lift the bikes up onto the racks.

With this arrangement we’ve been up and down the Pacific Coast from San Diego to Tofino and it has worked very well.

NuCamps are awesome 😎
Smallest non-pop-up we could find that had:
  • Tall enough for me to stand up in. (Which ruled out the smaller NüCamps.)
  • Bathroom with full walls (as opposed to a shower curtain and a cassette toilet under a cabinet)
  • Separate bed and dining table (as opposed to the dining area being the only bed. Required for dog sleeping spot + wife or I waking up before the other and having a place to sit.)
Non-pop-up because we do camp in nasty weather, and basically every pop-up has some stage of popping-up that exposes it to the weather. (And/or I'd be standing out in the nasty weather for multiple minutes waiting for it to pop-up.) The only real exceptions were way out of our price range.

Many of the same reasons we also have a Tab 400 (as you can see in my picture). Really did hope it would be better on aerodynamics than it is considering there is no AC on the top and obviously has a tear drop-ish design. But overall we absolutely love the things. Amazing for late and early season camping too with the Alde.

You must be rich 36k for that camper! And you are pulling with a Rivian 😂 So much for keeping up with the Joneses anymore.
I've been curious as to what Travel Trailers/RVs members of this community are towing with their R1Ts/R1Ss (and in the future, maybe R2s and R3s!?) - If you have some shots, share them! Give us some info about your set-up, the good and the bad, and whatever other thoughts you might have...

I'll start off:

Wife and I tow an inTech Sol Dawn. It's a 16' with some funky design choices that we really love - tall enough for me to stand up in (I'm 6'3"), decently light for what is packed in there, and is easy to maintain (winterizing takes about 15 minutes, and that includes draining the water heater).

One thing that would be nice is slightly bigger sleeping space - I'm quite tall and my wife is too, and no matter how we arrange ourselves, the sleeping space is just a bit too small. We've thought about bumping up to a bigger rig in the series (the Sol Dusk), but the cost right now is just a bit much. But if our current trailer met with an accident...... hehehe.

Had a '21 Rebel EcoDiesel. Loved the truck, but hated towing our 13' Intec Explorer toy hauler with it. Our R1S tows it so much better.

Same on the efficiency disappointment. I get ~1.2 on the interstate. Although on a long stretch of 45 MPH, I got over 1.8! (A stretch of ~120 miles with no charging that I erroneously thought there was a big hill through a mountain range at the end - turned out the small state highway snaked through pretty low passes. Because I was expecting the hill, I played it safe and went slow.)

I got a multi-thousand-dollar price break because the seller said the Alde was broken. He had even gotten a replacement control board and tried to swap it himself, still didn't work.

Got it home, discovered he just hadn't reconnected the control board properly. Plugged everything in properly, works like a charm. :-D It really is wonderful. And low-enough power that the Rivian 12A outlet can run it no problem.

It's great to see the variety here, and another Vistabule. We've had the trailer since 2018 and added the R1T at the end of 2023. As a teardrop, interior is compact but very comfortable. We love the kitchen off the back. On our last trek last year, we saw about 1.8 mi/kWh.
