I have a 8/6/25 appointment @ Rivian in Fresno to replace my 2022 R1T two 12 volt batteries. Drive is 2 hours 40 min each way.
Truck was at 36,100 ish miles when the "replace 12 volt battery" dash symbol came on and notification on the Rivian app.
I am the second owner since 8/2024 stating with 26,500 miles.

Hoping Rivian has mercy on me and replaces the 12 volt batteries under warranty.

if not, any idea the coat for batteries and labor?

Rivian won't sell me new batteries.

I would call service and confirm coverage before making the drive. If it’s out of pocket, order the ohmmu batteries from their website and replace the batteries yourself. They have YouTube video that shows how to do it on the single and dual battery gen1’s.
Their batteries are superior to the ones Rivian will install anyway since they are LFP’s that can preheat themselves.

one other thing not in the video: you can now reset all the 12v battery alerts yourself from the RiDE menu after you replace the battery.

I got the "Replace 12V Battery" message yesterday, luckily for now my truck is still able to drive. I sent Rivian a mobile appointment request (I live almost 2 hours away from the nearest service center) and unfortunately the next window they'll be out in my neck of the woods is in December, more than a month away. They told me I could drive it during this time as long as I kept it plugged in as much as possible. Should I trust that? The threads I've read here make me think that I'm going to get stuck somewhere.

In the mean time, I saw videos and threads describing how to replace these, which definitely seems like something I could DIY. The trouble is that I don't want Lithium batteries as I live in a cold area, and unfortunately that's the only non-OEM battery I've seen people use. Is there a lead-acid replacement for these that has the posts in the right spots?

Thanks for your help.
I have seen the actual agm deep cycle batteries Rivian uses available on line from a few suppliers. I just had my dual batteries replaced last week so I had a chance to oversee the changeout. Tech replaced batteries one by one but jumpered the negative terminals with a light gauge jumper. Physically just a pain to work over the front truck to get to the batteries and you will break a couple of the retaining clips on the cowl in the process. The part we cannot do ourselves is the double, complete resets that require a computer tied to the OBD lan port. That software to my knowledge is still propriety. But this may help expedite your appt. When I first called Rivian the advisor stated I had to bring in the truck in to SC as without a genuine Rivian level 2 wall connector mobile service was not an option. I knew this was bs so I called again and spoke with another advisor and challenged this and he set me up in two days with a mobile appt. Might call and see if another advisor can expedite the appt. And FYI a level two wall connector is not required for the changeout

one of the recent OTA updates gave us the ability to clear the 12v codes on our own.

Hey guys. Literally got the battery terminal adapters in yesterday. This will allow you to use any BT19BL-BS with the Rivian.

Give me a few days to get this on the website and available for sale.

according to the tech and I observed the laptop routines he ran, we the end user still cannot perform all needed resets from the screen if both batteries are disconnected and replaced

Just got mine done at 39K miles in San Diego. Cost me $780.53 for two batteries. Took about an hour and half or so. Tried to argue with them that just a few months ago (before 36K)I had asked them to check the batteries as I wanted them covered under warranty, but they wanted to do a battery health check and still charge me $300+ for that service which I refused. I know others have had better luck at getting warranty coverage extended as a courtesy, but not me unfortunately.

Looking to see if I can clear a persistent SOS error. I’ll explore the RIDE menu when I have some time.

Is there a list of RIDE menu functions?

Seems crazy not to be able to do the 2 12 volt battery replacement myself. I watched the Ommu YouTube video. Looks easy enough to do.
But there are mixed reviews using the there batteries.
And Rivian will void warranty if not done to their specs. And Rivian will not sell me their batteries 🤷‍♂️

They will sell you the parts and will also sell you the labor to install it. Their labor rates are about average their parts costs are way overpriced.
If their labor rates are higher than mine (which they are), then they are too darn high for a simple procedure.

2 new 12 volt batteries installed @ Fresno Rivian Service Center this morning. Here's what the old ones looked like.
This service location is only 2 months old and very nice. They could have sent a mobile to my house (2 1/2 hours each way) but I would have had to wait until after my trip next week. **** I didn't want to take a chance driving with the battery warning light for 3 weeks total.****
Icing on the cake was free level 3 charging @ CalTran corporate maintenance yard.

It's exactly what ohhmmu does. It's just an adapter that moves the terminal to the rivian OEM location.

I have em ready to go.
