Very good discussion; although I think one key factor here is key. EVs sold from 2011-2020 based on "tech" and "environmentalism". Today's EV is approaching the price point to be compared to a traditional vehicle and is just sold because it is better as a vehicle, regardless of any green concerns.

Another live data point. 16 hours overnight and 1 All Purpose mile lost (no change in SoC). That extrapolates to 0.5% per 24 hours.

By the end of the year everyone will laugh about this thread over beers.

Where is it now? I am still consistently losing 6mi/day, so roughly 2.8 kWh or so, making this one of the highest-consuming appliances in the home.

This graph shows loss of nearly 10 mi in the last 40 hrs.

I rarely have the circumstances to leave it sitting multiple days. However the following day after this post I saw similar results, one mile this time over 18 hours (SoC did drop a percent, but that depends on rounding).

I have GG and GG Alarm off completely, PAAK off at home. Lock truck and typically close out the app.

I've not really experienced any drain a few miles overnight, however there is a definite bug/feature where if you don't fully close the door the truck will burn through the kwh. For example, didn't realize that the rear passenger door was not fully closed and used 8kwh in a day, close the door and the truck sleeps again. Lots of room for improvement here.

Completely agree. When I bought a Model S in 2017 i was immediately caught up in the vampire drain panic of that model. Now, 5 wonderful years later with the S, I realize i haven't thought about drain for most of that time. Drain did get better and you just move past it to a degree. Here i am now with my R1T and right back in the throes of the concern.

Rivian knows it needs to do better and I'm quite sure it will be and that beer will be mighty tasty, lol.

Agree with all of those saying this should be improved over time (although needs to be a big priority if they are to keep their "green" street cred). We had a 2017 Model X we just got rid of that had not great vampire drain. It was replaced with a Model Y and it has almost no drain if sentry is off overnight.

Thankfully all the upcoming updates are done with over the air software updates. No need to visit a SC.

Eh, that may be the intent, but it's not exactly working out, just yet. I've got a R1T sitting in my garage that's still stuck on 2022.11.02 and it thinks it's up to date. Rivian seems to have missed this VIN in its update pushes.

Just got 2022.31. I'm measuring drain on Camp Mode's "Power Off" first, then going to try regular operation.

I noticed the steering wheel is locked now so the power steering pump is likely off. I would bet this is where the 10% improvement comes from. We'll see if it's true.

Sentry mode is the big battery killer, I saw a range kill of 20 miles per day when it was on in a parking garage on my model y. I think it can be better or worse depending on how many times it gets activated and records events. Are most the the vampire drain issues attributed to fear guard or is this even when it’s completely off?

Still uses 3-4 miles per day with gear guard off, proximity off, etc in my experience. The new update apparently will keep power steering module/pump (?) turned off when vehicle is not in Drive and helps eliminate another 10% (hopefully).

Yes, I lose 6mi a day with GG off. Doesn't matter if proximity locking is on or off.

Charged the R1T to seventy percent late afternoon on August 29th. It has sat in the garage with gear guard off since then. It is now at fifty-six percent. The only question now is whether Rivian will get me a permanent tag before the battery goes to zero. (My ninety day temporary tag expired on the 29th.)

Here's the latest under 2022.31, Camp Mode's "Power Off" option for a full day. No appreciable change compared to 2022.27. I'm still losing 6mi/day.

The vehicle is still frequently drifting in and out of sleep.
