Just had a set of new wheels mounted @Discount Tire .
I told them I had brand new jack pucks in the rear if needed(previous time they used their own.) I noticed from a distance the Jack pucks they were using looked different and that one of the jacks looked to be tilted. They told me it was fine…
When they lowered it down I noticed they didn’t have to reinstall the caps for the pucks at which point I realized they jacked it up in the wrong location. The plastic panels are all warped and no longer sit flush with the bottom, but my main concern(without removing the panels) is could there be damage to anything else underneath those panels? They told me a manager would reach out to me shortly. I don’t want to remove the panels until he looks at it, would just be nice to hear there is no potential for other damage.
Thanks!

Unlikely to cause anything other than the visible damage.

Still lazy and inexcusable, they have supposedly been trained and then dismissed your concerns.

Yikes. @Discount Tire has historically been very good about proper procedure. Someone really effed up here, and I think they should fix it without question.

@Discount Tire is going to have to send out a "adjuster" to look at the damage....

I'm happy to hear from you guys that it's likely only cosmetic, but I still expect them to replace the panels as they are no longer flat under the vehicle. I hate to be "that guy" complaining about stuff like this, but I have a shop myself(unfortunately without a tire machine) and if one of my guys pulled off something like this on a customers vehicle I would raise hell. The sad thing is it was more than one guy jacking the vehicle up....

If they decide to dismiss my concerns, is there an online source for OEM Rivian parts? I'm used to Jeeps etc where I can just call up my local wholesalers and get any parts I need.

Thanks everyone!

If it comes to that just ask around, I have a full set on the floor in my garage but I am sure others have some in better condition. I took them off when I installed rock sliders.

You have every right to be. It's your property and you trusted them enough to give them business... and it suffered damage under their care..

Maybe this gives me an excuse to order some rock sliders 😅. Reality is I will never attempt to do the the type of crawling I do with my Jeeps. If I get them they will be door ding/shopping cart protection lol

They did the EXACT same thing to mine! I will say the holes are semi easy to confuse but better training needs to be done.
They definitely need the training. What gets to me is I could see the plastic deforming from the waiting room which is when I went out and took the picture of the jack and told the person it didn't look right. I didn't want to crawl underneath to look at the time as they had all 4 tires off and the vehicle raised with 4 separate floor jacks.

I've gone ahead and opened up the flaps for them before I hand the keys over... paranoid but i guess it becomes much more obvious if they're there. sorry to hear about this experience, hope they make it right for ya

Sorry to this happened to you, but thank you for sharing your experience.

I was about to schedule a new set of tire with Discount Tire, but I need to rethink that now.

I'd suggest folks get a wax pencil and clearly label the jack points. I did this after installing my @DCE sliders to make it clear to the Rivian SC that the jack points are unobstructed and available.

Somewhat relative to this post, but has anyone found a good online resource of Rivian OEM parts yet?

Next time I’m going to pull the caps and snap my own pucks in place. Discount seems to want to help me resolve the issue which is why I used them in the first place. There are plenty of less expensive options, but very few stand behind their work/mistakes in my experience.

This may just be my shit luck but I had a highly recommended tire shop manage to bend 3 of 4 custom forged wheels on my Exige YEARS ago. Since then I’ve only stuck with discount tire and even then 90% of the time I bring the wheels off the vehicle.
