Any reviews from anyone here? Coming up on one year ownership and would like to change our the filter before summer. Any concerns about airflow?

I put one in when I did my horn upgrade. Old one was in REALLY bad shape after 35k of driving. This one hasn't caused any issues and is definitely beefier than the stock unit. My car typically smells nice so I can't tell if it's helped that part lol but no noticeable outside noxious smells. You can still smell the windshield wiper fluid, but not as strongly

Geez, I hadn't considered that. I might need to rethink this...

If you can't smell the washer fluid the product is DOA 😂

Seriously though would like to see how they recommend performing the evap cleaning. I haven't gone under the truck to look for a drain line.

In the old days techs used to drill a small hole in the HVAC assembly and install a port. They would cap the port in between cleanings.

With service being backed up this is a nice Sunday (or Saturday) project.

Question--does Rivian have a sensor that "smells" offending odors (such as a smokey diesel truck) and automatically close off the vented outside air to prevent the smell from getting into the cabin?

Not that I've seen. If I recall correctly, there was something in there, a probe of sorts, but I figured that was a moisture sensor that, likely going on a limb here, would close the HVAC opening if water came in contact with it. Example fording through deep water etc.

Okay....I was just wondering. That's a feature in my Audi and it works really well. I mean, you have to be driving with your windows up and your roof closed and you'll never get any smells inside because the car closes up the HVAC system to outside air instantly.

It is my turn to replace the filter. What is the final word? Rivian filter or HEPA filter - why and why not? I do want a good airflow and don’t care about the washer fluid smell. So any direction would help me as my allergy season has started.

no final word, but i just replaced the rivian filter with this evsportline one and i took some airflow measurements before/after...

I had the AC OFF, recirc off (obviously) and the blower on full:

Rivian R1T R1S New HEPA Filter Launched from EV Sportline IMG_2423

Before (dirty rivian filter) 8.43 m/s:

Rivian R1T R1S New HEPA Filter Launched from EV Sportline IMG_2422

After (brand new evsportline filter) 7.28 m/s:

Rivian R1T R1S New HEPA Filter Launched from EV Sportline IMG_2424

So it reduced airflow by about 14% which is pretty substantial...

I will run this for a while but may go back to the rivian filter if i can notice a difference in airflow in the cabin.

I have EV filter sitting around. So I might do the same thing as you, move to EV filter then go back to Rivian then. If you find something different on these filters, as things always evolve, let me know and I might just follow you on this. I dont want to reinvent the wheel. Thanks for doing this👍

This doesn't surprise me. You can't trap more particles without either increasing the size of the filter or restricting flow.

Better filtration is good the only question is does it affect the performance of the HVAC system. Is it possible the reduction would result in no noticable reduction in performance?

On Tesla Model Y with HEPA there is a large filter under the hood and then the two smaller filters still live inside the cabin.
