My Jeep 4Xe came with the Jeep "Power Box" and is what I believe the OP is looking for Rivian to supply/offer for their vehicles?

The "Power Box" gives you two adjacent sets of 120V outlets with each set offering up to 15amp load limit for a total of 30amps out of the vehicle. You can not however combine the outlets to get 240volts out of the vehicle.

I don't sleep alone like you do, so she wants the tent to be nice and warm.

And u say day and place, I'll happily smoke you on whatever gas dirt bike u got ?

I'll be at the biltwell 100, so show up buddy.
Sounds fun, good luck. That’s 3200 miles away and my bike still has the ski and track on it since the dirt won’t be around for another 2 months or so.

This is EXACTLY what I'd like to see from Rivian! With the Jeep 4Xe do you have to enable it from inside (i.e. a screen or menu option) before plugging it in or is it truly just plug and play?

Nevermind...I found this from MotorTrend.

I have an EcoFlow Delta 3 Plus arriving today for this exact purpose. Should fit in the gear tunnel beautifully and trickle charge from the 12V or 120V(or solar if I'm boondocking). And like others have said, great uses other places as well.
How many kWh can those units go up to?

Here is one more thing.

Anyone annoyed as to how tucked in the hitch is??

I've had to purchase a hitch extender just so I can put on my 1up bicycle rack, and same thing for my moto rack.

Why the heck make it so deep??? There is still plenty of space between the hitch cover and the actual hitch. There's at least 3 or 4 inches. they could have used that space to push out the hitch more.

It's pretty ridiculous the hitch design is basically an after thought without putting any real world testing before deciding on the length and location of the hitch.

Even my tesla model x, which people use far less for hitch accessories than a rivian owner would, yet its placed in the correct location. I can fit my moto rack without a problem on my model x. But on the rivian R1S, I have to use an extender or else the straps will scratch the entire bumper due to how tucked in the hitch is.

Just stupid decisions like that left and right, no 240v, no 20amp 120v outlet, a hitch so up the R1S butt that you need to buy an extender for simple hitch acccesories.

Yes, it's recessed quite a bit. I have not measured it, but the way the trim cover curves under, I don't think there is 3" to 4" of space/clearance.

I've used the hitch quite a bit for towing and non-towing hauling for towing, 1 boat, 3 different utility trailers, a hauling rack, an older Rhode Gear 4 bike rack, and the "Spare Bumper" I just put on about a week ago. No issues at all with any clearances as related to the trailers/towing, the hauling rack, or the bike rack.

I had to trim the top of the rubber bushing on the Spare Bumper about 3/8" so it would easily slide under the bumper fascia. Wasn't a big deal to me.

It's the same thing with the r1t, zoom i to photo you will see i had to add a 7 inch extender.

Yeah towing is fine because its just a long tough that goes in, but hitch accessories are useless with this design!

I really don't know what Rivian owner wouldn't want this.

If you own an R1S, as I do, and you go camping, as I do, and you want to run an extension cord to your tent, well unless you leave a window or door open...good luck.

There is no way to fully secure your vehicle while camping and running an extension cord to your tent for power, sure R1Ts have the outlets in the bed, but there is still no 240v so I would say R1T and R1S is really the same deal.

Why aren't any of you complaining to Rivian that we need them to make a dongle that plugs to the charge port and that supports 120v and 240v??

This is just a major let down thus far, since it's something that Rivian could do NOW, and all their vehicles are hardware capable to doing it, Gen1 or Gen2s.

So please, b1tch and moan to Rivian to get their a$$es on this.

We all complained that there was no way to quickly swap wheel setup in the vehicle, between street and AT wheels, and now we have it.

Lets do the same for a V2L dongle that supports 120v and 240v.

Killer app for 240 vAC out: two words. Buddy charge. A little over a year ago my partner was out and misjudged how many miles he had left in his EV6 (cold weather, etc). He ended up down to like 1% as he arrived at a charger… which was broke. I drove out there in the R1T and plugged him in using my portable charger and 120vAC outlet, but we ended up sitting there for a good couple hours waiting to get him charged up to the point we could get home. I would have paid a lot of money for a 240 vAC option!

Does anyone know of a small-ish unit something like the bluetti AC200MAX but with 240VAC pure-sine output? We can power most stuff in the house we need with the R1T as is off the 120, rotating from fridg to freezer, etc., but the well pump is 30A 240VAC. I think the AC200MAX would handle that but the 30A outlet is only 120VAC. We don't need continuous power for anything, so recharging from the truck as discussed here would work great.
30amps*240volts is 7200 watts.... thats a huge load. Nothing will be "small-ish" with that power. 30amps at 120volts is 3600 watts (still pretty big but many more options). That bluetti is only 18 amps at 120 volts.

If the only thing your running at 240volts is a well pump I'd get a conventional generator for that with a non-pure sine output. Think I may have seen one at costco for $900. Seems like a hell of a well pump to need 30amps at 240volts. My pool pump for a 25k gallon pool is a fraction of that.

Thanks, that would work but way more than I'm willing to spend. I don't really want that much battery and would prefer something smaller; that's what the truck's for.
So you want a very small battery pack - but it can power 240 volts at 30 amps?

I believe its over by the 2 door roadster with seats for 8.

Why can't you simply enable the outlets for xx hours and run an extension cord? It's only 120V 12A (x2) but that should be plenty for camping. Rivian did say they will enable V2H on all existing vehicles, but we're still waiting for that.

Because there is no official way to run an extension cord out of the R1S and being able to lock and secure the vehicle.
The only way to do it is by Jerry rigging and routing the extension cord through seals that can wear down or through a window that must remain open.

If Rivian just spent 5 minutes in designing the dongle, then all issues would be solved. May i remind u this is a 115k vehicle.

I will not accept having to leave my window open or having to force door seals because this should have been designed into the vehicle. And yes that is my opinion.

And if my opinion is wrong then they should stop calling it an adventure vehicle and sell it for 60k instead. Like a jeep.

Did you try it? I didn't believe it would work when I first saw running an extension through the bottom of the rear gate, but it works. There aren't any seals to destroy (at least on mine). I closed the rear gate (slowly) with my finger there. I agree that Rivian should have put an external outlet on the R1S (perhaps next to the hitch), but use what you're given even if it's not "officially sanctioned."
