I did have a EV Sportline bottle jack that I kept in the lower frunk, but after actually using it, I realize I need something that's easier to use. If that means giving up some storage space, so be it.

What are you guys using for travel jack that stays in the vehicle? Any thoughts on a pneumatic jack? I do have a Badland off road jack that I purchased for use at home, and really don't want to store that in the frunk. So I'm looking for something in-between, that isn't as cumbersome as the little bottle jack I'm replacing.

Thanks,
Ben

The EV sportline jack doesn't go tall enough to lift the rear off the ground if the truck is in highest suspension setting.

I bought a Mercedes Sprinter bottle jack, they can be found for ~$65-$75 on ebay and have more than enough travel to lift the tire off the ground in the highest suspension setting. The top has a saddle that needs some modification to use with a puck, but otherwise it's a much nicer jack than what EV Sportline is using.

Here is my thread about my spare kit I pieced together:

I have the Torin Big Red bottle jack, as recommended by jackpucks.com (I also have their standard and XL magnetic pucks which integrate precisely with it).

For use in a pinch, day-to-day, I will be using the factory kit (or replace the jack with a bottle jack with at least 18" of max lift + Megawatt puck). For off-road excursions, I will be packing my 3-ton Badland jack (acquired during their Cyber Monday sale) in a wheeled plastic bin along with rest of my recovery gear. Still shopping for the bin.

For our off roaders and those that desired a single XL sized magnetic jack puck, I built one for myself and then produced them for our customers, to go along with our kit of standard magnetic jack pucks. As mentioned above I used the 10T Torin Big Red, for ease of lift and they are readily available at Amazon.

Wow. Guess I'm a lot simpler. I just use the factory R1T scissor jack and one of Marks red pucks. Works fine as I've tested it at home. No need, for me at least, to buy and haul more stuff. If I do end up in an awkward place, I'll just figure it out.
Kiss theory.

If you didn't order the factory spare, (comes with the jacking kit), then I guess you're wide open for accessories.

I use the 10T Torin Big Red and an ARB jack base and a Jackpuck. I figure the jack base is useful to have onboard to distribute weight in case I need to change the tire on soft soils or sand and the extra ~1" of height is enough to provide an extra margin of height. Without the extra height the Big Red isn't quite long enough to lift the rear with a single jackpuck (though I do have the 4 pack so could stack but stacking seems a bit sketchy to me).

ARB jack base: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07QX92KRP/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

IIRC this idea came from a post by jjswan33.

For around town, I don't carry anything more than the factory stuff, it's plenty for a roadside spare swap.

For my wheeling and camping trips, badlands jack + a pelican full of tools. They've both come in handy plenty of times. When you have a trailside repair to do, getting to do it with an electric impact is great. Last major trip I used the badlands jack to pick up a buddy's taco so we could straighten out the axle after it tried to escape the leaf springs. Ratchet strap parking lot alignment was within a degree of thrust, proud of that one. Between trips, the jack gets used to rebuild friends' jeeps and stuff. It's a good tool.

gif of the axle becoming misaligned:

If you're going to go out to do silly things with your vehicles, bring good tools and the knowledge to use them.

I carry this one. Powerbuilt 3 Ton, Jack / jackstand. I put in in the truck before my last trip to CO and it hasn’t left. I bought one of those Torin jacks (too short) and there isn’t any room for a stand with any of the bottle jacks. I am way more comfortable with something like this.

Curious, is storing the Torin Big Red on it's side problematic? I'm thinking of getting one to lay down inside my spare.

This is the way. I keep the Big Red in the truck all the time and put the badlands in my camping box when going to the boonies.

Is anyone with rock sliders planning to just jack on those, and if so does it open up your jack options? Especially, does it make the bottle jacks more usable due to less amount of lift needed.
