At low speed and turning the wheel slowly, I get a creaking sound. Anyone else? I also have a couple rattles/buzzing sounds that are annoying. One source of buzzing is the A pillars by the seat belt adjuster, but that one may have gone away on its own. Can't track down the most recent one that sounds almost like something vibrating against glass...maybe something in the back, but without a passenger looking for it not sure I'll be able to locate it.

Question for y'all. Our new R1S is quiet on smooth roads, but on the first trip to rough pavement and dirt, we got a low, deep "buzz" type sound, almost the kind that hurts your ears after a while. The miscellaneous rattles don't bother me on rough roads, but the buzz seemed strange. Anyone had this, and is it normal, or fixable?

The buzz is brought on by rough roads?

Yeah. Like a rattle, pretty continuous on the rougher surface, but very low. I can try to pay more precise attention next time. Just a first impression.

Couldn't really replicate today, maybe because I was driving faster. Or maybe I'm just not used to what all-terrains sound like.

Late to the rattle and squeek party.

  • AC compressor cabin rattle when running hard
    • Fixed. There's a ground strap rubbing/hitting the shock tower which attaches directly to compressor. Bend it out of the way
  • Metal "jingling" at low speeds you hear outside
    • Unknown
  • Half Axel "slap" when changing directions or speed.
    • Likely something more involved / warranty. Looks like a known issue with Rivian?

I have had this same metal "jingling" noise I have been trying to figure out for 3 months now. Service center once and I don't think they heard the original sound and fixed something else because it still does it. Seems like it is coming from passenger - middle / back side. Yours?

Same. Under vehicle.. mid-pointish. I was originally thinking there was a metal spring clamp (maybe a boot clamp or something) rolling around on an axle shaft... i've been under there a few times looking around and shaking stuff but haven't seen anything.

I guess I need to remove some panels.

I've had my real wheel off - same thing shaking and trying to replicate the noise with it parked. I'm determined to find out what it is. I know they put foam strip between the plastic under panels and the metal under there - that doesn't make the same noise even if I make it happen. I'm not sure how much more I can even see because I had panels close to off and it was another dead end. Searching the webs everyday for this solution.

@RJ ARE YOU HEARING THIS SHIT???

This is the exact AC noise everyone is talking about at full load. You can see the compressor in action screaming HOLD ON DEAR LIFE - HODL

Is this what you had in mind when you designed the HVAC and hiked up the prices $20,000??

The vibrations in the pedals and floor pan don't really help sell the story that EV's are quieter than ICE.

They definitely need to change out the compressor. Only time mine has come near that level of noise is fast charging in 100 degrees. And even then was a much lower tone.

Anyone have some homegrown fixes for a rattly, rear door, panel, or a passenger seat?

Same question. Bass heavy music rattles the rear doors badly. I had the SC look at it and they placed some acoustic tape in the doors which has helped but the rattle is creeping back in. FYI, the Taylor Swift Midnights album is like a rattle stress test.

I have same issues! Rattles badly on music at high volume. Tried to fix this 2 times in the service center with no luck ( One day I got a loaner with meridian sound, it is a different animal, deep reach bass, and no rattles at all! Another thing on music level 15 meridian is already loud compared to Rivian sound is like whispering (((( not good at all.

I’m running the Meridian system. I will say I’m good until i get to level 19 or 20, then the rattling doors start.

I see so that means the problem is not in the speakers, but in doors trims. My question is that they can make it without rattles, what is the difference with ours? ( Will be great to know so we can ask the service center to fix it
