Anyone knows what maint. Status 1.0 means?

Attached is the Pic from ride menu

It means it's normal_operation.

Many people are beyond 20k miles and a year of ownership with no 12v issues. Others have the issue within the first few months. I doubt replacing proactively will make much difference, seems like something is drawing down the battery in certain instances.

Rivian proactively replaced my Gen 1 R1T (Vin = #3,XXX) 12 volt batteries this past week. The mobile tech they should be replaced every 18-24 months. My truck is about 2.5 years old at this point. Just FYI....

Did they replace them for free? There is a 3 yr, 36k warranty on them.

Yes - he even said it is a very known problem within Rivian and that they are trying to be proactive about replacing them. My service ticket was for my Gear Guard not working properly. The latest update actually fixed the issue, and I told them that, but they still came out to replace the batteries. He also said the problem was that the majority of these batteries sat for a long time before they were installed. Their manufacture date is what really matters, not how long they have been in the vehicle.

It’s the inverse I think, it’s a ‘Boolean float’(eww):
  • 0=false=no maintenance required
  • 1.0=true=maintenance required
Our gen1 R1S with no 12v issue shows 0 here, while our gen1 R1T that’s throwing 12v warnings is showing 1.0.

This is the exact opposite of what I see. Checked this morning, and these are the statuses I see:

Low Voltage Maintenance Status = 1.0
12v Battery Health (reported from API) = normal_operation

these values are probably unrelated then (perhaps the RIDE menu is reporting on the bms itself or something rather than the status it’s reporting), and we are trying to correlate too far, in home assistant I’m showing:

  • normal_operation for the R1S that’s showing 0 in the RIDE menu
  • A0 for the R1T that’s showing 1.0 in the RIDE menu (and complaining about 12v heath in the app)

I would instead purchase a good battery bank. If/when it fails you can jump the truck back to life and then replace them.

Going back to this @Electrified Outdoors, say I purchase said battery bank... Where do I keep it so that I can: 1) Keep it charged and accessible at all times, and 2) access it if/when the battery fails?

Ideally I'd want to keep it on the truck, and topped off, however that provides a few issues

1) All locations with a 120VAC outlet or USB-C to keep it topped off are inaccessible if the 12v fails (Armrest, Back Seat, Gear Tunnel, Bed)
2) the 120VAC outlet constantly turns off, even when left in auto mode (I use it to power a 5g modem in my truck for internet access. I have to turn it back on at least 3x a week. Auto mode does not stick)

Basically, even if we buy one, there's no guarantee we'll be able to access it if I run into a 12V failure with no warning (which tons of people have experienced)

Sure, I could keep it plugged in at home, but that's half, or less, of the places it could fail on me.

Question for those getting their 12V batt(s) replaced under warranty... what is the warranty on the replacement batt(s)?
In most automotive warranty situations, the replacement part is warranted for the remainder of the original part's warranty period. The original 12V batt(s) are warranted for 3yrs/36K miles. So if you're near the end of either of those milestones, is that when the warranty on the replacement batt(s) is over too?

No easy answer to this. If you keep in frunk you can disassemble the wheel arch and manually release it I believe. Most current units no longer have a 12v in the frunk though so you would need to remember to take it out and trickle it once every so often.

This is a great question, one I’ll ask on Wednesday when our 12V is replaced

Yup. 2024 here, no 12V in frunk.

It's a not-well-designed situation, unfortunately.
