Mine arrived yesterday and I'll probably install it on Saturday. It's exactly as shown in the Gen1 installation video (including the black & white wires in the power harness that seem to have no purpose - I was a little concerned about them until I noticed that it was the same in the video).

I did have an extra USB dongle in my kit that's not referenced at all in the video I watched, but checking the EVPlay "Get Help" section answered my question: Yes - install it! Alex said that the video has been updated.

I think he's done a great job, especially since he made it very clear that this is his first rodeo at this kind of endeavor. As a Rivian owner I'm quite used to calendar adjustments...

I know Alex is updating the video for Gen2 vehicles and I’m sure will cover things I ran into. My suggestions are:
1. Pulling back the carpet away from the black foam it is stuck to it difficult to separate. I actually broke a piece off. I don’t think it’s a big deal.
2. Once the carpet is pulled back and folded over it would be helpful to have a large clamp hold it folded otherwise you’ll be struggling with it the whole time getting in your way.
3. I found getting my hand into the space where you need to remove the video cable from the entertainment panel and subsequently the power connector is very tight. In order to do that I removed the four bolts holding the passenger airbag in the foot well.
4. It is definitely much easier to insert the blade power leads in to the correct location if the power connector is removed first
5. I had a really difficult time finding an area to attach the EV unit to under the dash. The zip ties provided were a little too short so I used longer ones.
6. Replacing the cover for the entertainment unit was a challenge.
7.Yes, you need to add the Wi-Fi dongle.
8. The button needs to be paired to the EV unit.
9. Running the GPS wiring as the video shows is really easy.

overall, I only had a handheld light. I definitely think having a headlight would much better. be prepared to be on your back for quite a while. when I was much younger, it wouldn’t have bothered me having worked on a lot of vehicles over the years, but as you get older not so easy.

Specifically how hard is it to go back and forth to adjust climate controls? Will Alexa commands still work for climate when in the EVPlay screen?

Mine arrived and I installed it in less than 30mins. I will say unplugging the black video cable and reinstalling it was equally if not a tad more difficult than the comma harness install.

Everything went smoothly. I ended up attaching the remote switch to the backside of the steering wheel where Chrysler puts its radio switches for easy access while driving.

The only want I have now is to offer a usb connection for better audio quality.

I paid for mine prior to the cutoff, but never received a tracking number or a response. I’ve emailed Alex three different times asking for this information and have not heard back. I’m glad to hear that others have received it, because I was really concerned that this is a scam at this point. I’m giving to give him another few days to respond before contacting my credit card company.

Give it a little more time and yours should be on its way soon. Alex did say they are overwhelmed with orders. I don’t know if order numbers have anything to do with shipments. I am #50236.

The wait is worth it. The product is well made and functional.

Did you mount the unit under the dash? In the photo looks like the unit is sitting on your carpet maybe during testing?

You’re right. I took the picture in testing before putting everything together. I did mount it under the dash.

I forgot to include a photo of the toggle button behind the wheel. Here is a photo of it.

Just installed mine. It took me about an hour, but I was delayed because a bunch of broken glass fell out when I removed the kick panel in the passenger footwell. I had almost completely forgotten I had taken a big rock strike and had my windshield replaced...

The instructions are quite poor, even if the installation is not all that complex. The videos are not even linked from the main site, for Pete's sake; you have to go searching for them here or on Reddit or YouTube.

The part about mounting the EV Play box is a total mystery. I see the gap (I think) that the video is pointing to, but I have no idea how I am supposed to use the included zip ties on a box with no holes or loops or any other place I could reasonably attach them. I ended up just wedging it up there and I'll hope it doesn't rattle around too badly when I drive.

It seems OK but not great to use on first blush. The touchscreen is not very responsive and the delay in switching over to the phone BT profile (from audio) when activating or responding to Siri will take some time to develop muscle memory around.

Overall I'm happy to have it - I am going on road trip soon so I'll get a good chance to live with it and see how I like it.

Velcro. I bought a roll of adhesive Velcro from Amazon, like long ago. I have to tell ya, it can really come in handy for securing random things. I even put a small piece on my Rivian fob unlock button so that I can feel it in my pocket. Works great! If there is any semi-flat surface around where that box sits, maybe a little Velcro could secure it.

How do you pair the button to the unit? Mine's fully connected and powered up but I can't get squat to show on screen. Also, what's the mic for? It wasn't mentioned in the install video. Okay got the mic portion answered from the EVPlay webiste FAQ.

Still need the button pairing! And now WTH is the tiny keyboard for?
